Dr. Seuss’ colorful characters and rhyming whimsy have made the late writer’s books a staple in libraries both personal and public.
But Seuss was not without his shortcomings, says Philip Nel, an English professor at Kansas State University. According to Nel, Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” is rife with racial caricature and “the influence of blackface minstrelsy lingers.”

Dr. Seuss, aka Theodore Geisel, was a dyed in the wool liberal. Now he’s a “racist”.
Perfesser Nel should find a country he likes better and move there.

If you look hard enough and have a closed enough mind, one can find Racism or Sexism or most every ism known to mankind in most anything..

The only path liberals understand is destruction. They destroy everything they purport to help. I challenge anyone to document a liberal “improvement”.
Many forget that Geisel wrote his books in the 50s and 60s, and was inculcated with the US culture in the 40s. What the SJWs call “racist” today was the common discourse back then. Perceptions, especially (but not exclusively) on the Left, have shifted significantly since that time. It’s commonly said that JFK would be a “conservative” candidate were he to run today.
This brings up alot of premises I question.
Why is black “minstrelry” so bad? Really. What is the big deal?
I’m not offended by all the geisha girls in whiteface, either.
I'm sure it's because I'm just not tuned in to it.
On the other hand, the racially obsessed see racism everywhere!
