Franken: I 'Crossed the Line'

After multiple groping allegations against Sen. Al Franken, the Minnesota Democrat says he knows he did wrong, but will not resign.

"I've learned from these stories that in some of these encounters I have crossed the line for some women,” he told Minnesota Public Radio News.

"I'm going to do my job and I'm going to go forward," he added. "I'm going to take responsibility. I'm going to be held accountable and I'm going to try to be productive in the way I speak about this."

Franken hoped to “be a better man” after the experience and said Leeann Tweeden, the sports broadcaster who accused the senator of kissing and groping her without her consent, had every right to feel violated.

The photo of him holding his hands up against her breasts while she was asleep wearing a flak vest was “inexcusable” he said.

"I am ashamed of that photo," Franken said. "You know she didn't have any ability to consent. She had every right to feel violated by that photo."

As for other women who have come forward saying Franken touched them inappropriately while taking photos, the senator he’s “someone who, you know, hugs people.”

"I've learned from these stories that in some of these encounters I have crossed the line for some women,” he added.

But he couldn't say whether more women would come forward.

"This has been a shock to me."

He also said he does not have plans to step down.

"The Ethics Committee is looking into all of this and I will cooperate fully with it," he said. "I know I have a lot of work to do to regain the trust of people I've let down."

His colleagues should give him a nice hug on his way out the door but, of course, he isn't going to resign.

Non apology apology.

He crossed the line “for some women.”

So it’s their fault.

You are correct Senator Franken. The only honorable thing is to commit suicide. Of course since you have no honor....

Note the wording: “She had every right to feel violated by that photo.” It wasn’t the photo that violated Ms. Tweeden, it was Franken.

When a liberal “apologizes” he isn’t sincere, and is just telling his fellow liberals that he needs a free pass.

What a {self-censored} double standard. If a conservative gets caught doing anything, even spitting on the sidewalk, there are calls for his or her resignation, an investigation, possible prosecution...

But when a {again self-censored} liberal 'rat gets caught actually committing crimes if/when they get enough heat about it they "come clean" issue some hollow apology, brush it off as if they cut in line at the local coffee shop, and expect to continue on as before.

{censored} - disgusting. I need a word beyond contempt and loathing...

So the Al Franken moral of the story is “If you snort the line then you might cross the line or maybe cut in line or walk the line.”

Don’t move an inch Al. Don’t let the Republican HATE-MONGERS get to you. And certainly don’t leave the Senate.

(at least until Roy Moore is elected)

This is a sideshow. Minnesota has decided it would rather have a gross politician as US Senator than a career politician. I get that. The fuss seems to be to legitimize the objections against Roy Moore, who (as near as I can figure out) is accused of.....uhhhhh.....not breaking the law forty years ago.

What I want to see is the names of the recipients of money from that slush fund. They admitted guilt by accepting that money, and they sold out when they accepted government slush fund money. ALL of the recipients, and anyone who knew about the fund, should be gone and banned from federal employment. That would be a real good start toward draining the swamp.

All he has to do is ride it out, he thinks because given how a large portion of his constituency treats women, he is a shoe in for reelection up in Minnesotastan.

And you know he would be screaming like a little girl for a Republican to step down from office if they were caught doing the exact same thing.

Keep the heat on him.

Murderers and rapists cross the line too Al. They have to do more than just apologize.

Apology accepted, now it’s time to go after Roy Moore and make sure he never has a seat in the American House of Lords. /s
