A FEW GOOD WORDS
The accuracy of lie detector tests has never been completely decided upon. Although it is inadmissible as evidence in court, even the proponents of lie detector testing agree that it is not always accurate. Among the first lie detectors, considered by some to be the most accurate, was the donkey's tail! That's right, in ancient India, a suspect would be escorted to a darkened room.
Only three would be present: the accused, the interrogator, and a donkey. The person being questioned was told that the donkey would bray if his responses were not truthful, and he was then asked to hold the donkey's tail.
Forerunners of the modern-day lie detector include a portable unit, developed in 1930. As early as 1899, an Italian physiologist invented what is called the hydrosphygmograph, which simply recorded variations in pulse. Later came the galvanometer and the pneumanograph to measure electric conductivity of the skin and respiration. But none of these early devices was as tried and true and accurate as the donkey's tail!
Remember, the suspect is in a darkened room with a donkey. He was told to hold the tail of the donkey, and if a lie was told, the donkey would bray. But the suspect was not told that the donkey's tail was covered with black soot! So those who feared the donkey's telltale bray, in the darkness of the room dared not to touch the donkey's tail. They would emerge with clean hands
thus proven guilty!
Honesty is, always has been, and always will be, the best policy! It is priceless. Honesty paves the way for successful living. Honesty is a virtue. Ask yourself, "Have I been truthful in all things today. . .to my relationships. . .to myself? Have I been straightforward? Did I earn respect?"
Honesty takes plenty of courage, but the rewards are tremendous. Folks will say of you, "There is a person we can trust, one on whom we can depend to act fairly, justly, considerately. This individual is worthy of promotion and recognition." And all this without using the donkey's tail!

You’re very welcome. I like to do what I can for our troops!
Dulcie seemed better today. It’s agonizing to move her to help her bathe, wrap her lower legs to keep her circulation flowing, etc. I feel so bad, but it all has to be done. You know what i mean. Her skin is paper thin, she has broken both legs so we have to be extremely careful about moving them so she doesn’t hurt too bad. It’s impossible NOT to hurt her some. It breaks my heart. But she’s tough and she knows we love her.
God bless your day, too! [both of you.]

That is such an awesome place. Hambone looks very much at home there! [I keep trying to call him Hardtack for some reason. LOL] It’s going to be a priceless collection when it’s all together and catalogued and the displays are tweaked. I’d LOVE to see it....and maybe I will one of these days!

The one who tries to be frank and honest before the world will soon find that the world is often more of an attitude “Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies” like the song goes.

Glad Dulcie seemed better today. She sounds like a real trooper.
She does know you love her and also knows things have to be done, and that y’all do everything possible to keep her comfortable throughout. She’s a smart lady.

Yes....it is heartbreaking, but so true, it must be done. And it is not easy.
Hopefully her doctor has her on some pain meds. Check into everything you can think of about getting someone to help you who has experience with her needs.
I wish I had found the Alzheimer’s Resource Center several years ago. Find out what your city and state have to offer.

I’m still amazed the museum exists in this area. I mean, this is Podunk Nowhere. LOL!
And it’s growing by leaps and bounds. It started out as a place for a man to exhibit military vehicles he’d collected over the years and now other collectors are contacting them to see if they’re interested in exhibiting some of their items.
And of course, they bought that huge collection in MS.
But though it’s in a small town, it’s just a mile or so off the interstate. Easy access.
They’ll only be open a couple of days a week from now until March so they can concentrate on getting the MS items in place. Then they’ll have a grand re-opening and with luck, they’ll be slammed after that.
Such history indeed! And what’s really cool is the reactions of the kids when they are there. They’re eating it up! A woman showed up today with her teenage grandsons and they were going nuts over everything.

It IS awesome and will get more so as time goes on. They're already planning to add on to the building because they're going to need more space soon. There are two rooms now - a smallish one where Hambone is and a larger one in back. I snapped this shot of the large one when we were there a few weeks ago. I look at it and the room looks kind of empty compared to what it looked like today.
Hambone is just cool. I assume there was a real Hambone back in the day. The sign has his name and his serial number.
I have a feeling this museum is going to grow and grow as time goes on. It's new - - not even a year old yet.

Oooooooh, I have a LOT to learn before I could be a tour guide. I’ll leave that up to the guys who know this stuff inside and out. :-)
But I’ll learn a bit while helping them put some of the items out. It’s going to be an interesting venture.
