In his last phone call home, Lance Cpl. Gregory Buckley Jr. told his father what was troubling him: From his bunk in southern Afghanistan, he could hear Afghan police officers sexually abusing boys they had brought to the base.
“At night we can hear them screaming, but we’re not allowed to do anything about it,” the Marine’s father, Gregory Buckley Sr., recalled his son telling him before he was shot to death at the base in 2012. He urged his son to tell his superiors. “My son said that his officers told him to look the other way because it’s their culture.”
Rampant sexual abuse of children has long been a problem in Afghanistan, particularly among armed commanders who dominate much of the rural landscape and can bully the population. The practice is called bacha bazi, literally “boy play,” and American soldiers and Marines have been instructed not to intervene — in some cases, not even when their Afghan allies have abused boys on military bases, according to interviews and court records.

My son-in-law was in Afghanistan in 2007, during the Bush administration. He and the other men were instructed to turn a blind eye to the Afghan Army’s sexual abuse of young boys. The justification was that it is their culture, and we should accept it, and stay quiet about it.
The layers and web of evil, manipulation, and power hungry players is mind numbing when you think about it. Too many of us have been hoping and praying for good people to do the right thing to correct this mess. When we should have realized we are the people who need to. We have our champions and fighters coming forward. Now is certainly the time to do all we can to support those who will fight for us and anything else we can do to decimate the swamp. We need to make the noise and be the squeaky wheels, etc.

yes, I remember someone pointing out it is from 2015 in one of the earlier posts on this thread. While the article is from a couple years back, it shows even more how there was no ‘uproar’ from the masses after this article. Showing the compliancy of the media and population with a lack of demanding consequences and changes to the evil practice and parts played by the Department of Defense and all parts of Government in this.
...and the 2012 mention in the article too!
Even more evidence our Government has been complicit to supporting that behavior for many, many years.

The report is more than 2 years old. And where is this issue, for our military today in Afghanistan? Has anything changed? Any followup reports anywhere?
