“Non-addictive.”

We’ve all heard that one before.

Great if true, but I’m skeptical.

Does it have euphoric side effects? Does it cause constipation? Is it toxic in usage or moderate abuse?

If answers to the above are Yes, No, and No, coupled with non-addictive properties, it sounds like a soma candidate.

Heroin was synthesized to try to find a non addicting version of morphine.

Kinda backfired...

But it’s Russian, so the “Stuck in the Cold War” warriors and the “Pissed off that they aren’t the Soviets anymore” Progressives auto-hate it.

I recall when cocaine use was increasing in the late 1970’s.

Many stories said the same thing: non-addictive, benign drug.

Hard to tell how it might be abused until it has been in wide use for a while.

If it is effective AND not addictive AND developed by the Russians the left will try to ban it here. And blame Trump.

I think it would be awesome if there were a non-addictive pain killer that actually killed pain.

Narcotics/opioids just don’t do much for me, except cause nasty side-effects.

Almost anything can be abused. Inhaling paint fumes, whipped cream cans, drinking mouthwash, etc etc etc. Just as the argument over guns goes, it is the people that are the problem, not the implements.

I hear the only known side effect is that users immediately start singing The Internationale.

As a pharmacist I hope this is true. However I doubt it most severely unless there is a new and undiscovered mechanism for opioad pain control that is not also involved with addiction.

We do have non steroidal drugs that are very effective for post-op pain. I used them myself after being an organ donor. I was on morphine for a few days and then went the non steroidal route. It was great. The pain was controlled and I was not disoriented nor a little bit crazy as while on the morphine. These unique drugs are very effective but have severe consequences if used for long periods. Bleeding out is not good.

I hope this new drug is as advertised. I doubt it.

Ketoralac is a great drug for post op pain. If used for to long it will make you bleed out and that is not goodl
