P!
He’s a rebel. What else can one say.
Wow.
This is really one for the history books. Theirs and ours.
As long as they’re not Common Core.
Sheesh.
(Does anyone remember the Nixon trip to PRC? Not quite the same...)
MAGA!
So he’s the new emperor.
It’s quite impressive. It is suitable for our leaders (both of them, America’s and China’s) to be admiring such true excellence.
Glad Trump got to see it. Glad he is in charge. Very glad.
P!
This just reaffirms my belief that it was just as much if not more about sending a message about his consolidated power as it was receiving Trump with a positive show.
Maybe it was Xi’s best choice to try to impress Trump. Trump owns impressive properties around the world.
Barak didn’t even get met at the airport and stayed in a Motel 6 while Trump gets all the fanfare and eats at the Forbidden City.
Imperial China, “modern” China, still much more importantly alike than different. Culture is stronger than political philosophy or religion; and China’s culture, including the culture of “appropriate” power structures, is ancient and very strong even today, no matter the different political names and titles.
Even the Global Times, an outspoken newspaper, sang Trump's praises. "Trump is one of the most popular heads of state on the Chinese Internet, and generally the Chinese public holds a positive attitude toward him," the paper's editorial said on Nov. 9.The Global Times, which is affiliated with the People's Daily, the party's mouthpiece, cited three reasons for Trump's popularity in China.
"[The] Chinese appreciate his directness, which is in sharp contrast to Hillary Clinton, who always puts on airs."
"Trump seems to be pragmatic on his Beijing policy, and has no interest in ideological diplomacy."
"He has also showed his respect for China's leader, publicly praising President Xi Jinping several times," the hawkish paper noted.
