These differences across states occur primarily because the gap between levels of disadvantage among white and black Americans differs sharply by state. For example, Wisconsin — the state with the highest disparity between black and white firearm homicide rates — has the second-highest gap of any state between black and white incarceration rates, and the second-highest gap between black and white unemployment rates. Racial disparities in advantage translate into racial disparities in firearm violence victimization."

There’s a statistic I read recently, I forget the exact numbers but it was something like 98% of all gun crime happens in 2% of the nations counties. In Michigan, 90% of all gun crime comes from ONE zip code (in Detroit).
One naturally assumes the gun crime numbers are evenly spread across the USA but it just isn’t the case. When I point this out to foreigners they’re shocked. They find it hard to believe that I’ve not, personally, witnessed gun crime. I grew up in England, so when I say that the USA is less violent than Europe they think I’m nuts (but I have credibility). Then I point to how football (soccer) games have to be policed (outside USA), even today. In many places, especially England, home and away fans require absolute segregation, otherwise they’d tear each other apart after every goal - there’s a wall of security between them. They find it shocking when I tell them I can go to ANY sport here and sit wherever I please and cheer as I like, nothing will happen. It’s a very interesting cultural indicator that is easy to overlook.
Who in their right mind would want to control a crime-ridden, vermin infested ghetto?
Where are the black “leaders” calling for blacks to become productive citizens?
Where are the black “leaders” calling for blacks to clean up their own neighborhoods?
Where are the black “leaders” calling for blacks to police their own and rid their neighborhoods of the criminal elements?

I agree: drugs are the common denominator to many violent urban issues.
But what is this “opioid epidemic” nonsense? Always thought an epidemic involves communicable disease or pestilence ? Another attempt to make the folks who choose to use drugs victims instead of willing participants? I don’t advocate throwing drug users in jail but one of the first steps to kicking any habit (alcohol, drugs, tobacco) is to own up to the addiction and go forward from there. This victim mentality is counterproductive and dangerous in my opinion.
If Black Lives Matter, they could stop killing each other.

There may be some blacks somewhere who have not been steeped in the black culture of violence, but there aren’t enough of them to invalidate the rule.

Those scalawags are not just Duke of Bilgewater bad; they are Satan-caliber evil. They won’t just torture and kill you; they’ll come after your wife and kids, your parents, the horse you rode in on, and everybody who even looks like any of the foregoing.
What are the odds that the next Charles Martel or Jan Sobieski will come out of one of our black slums? How do you form that kind of character in the black culture of ignorance and violence?
Well, if responsible people are not to be found in the black communities so devastated by crime, we are truly lost.
What will happen when the out-of-control criminal element migrates to the suburbs in search of greener pastures?

I didn’t say there were no responsible people, but going to all-out shooting war with Satanic evil requires more than a sense of responsibility.

If you had a hundred black Rambos in every black slum, heavily armed and highly motivated...no, forget it, the police would step in and stop them.
Better to let vicious criminals victimize the innocent than to allow vigilantes to put things right, don’cha know.
Measures short of that would be inadequate. To put things right, you would have to make the bad people dead, and we don’t have the nads for that.

Well, I am not one for “turning the other cheek,” and somehow, I think the Golden Rule ship has sailed.
We’ll just have to let it play out, hope for the best while preparing for the worst and support the good guys however we can.
