In the eyes of the Obama administration, most Democratic lawmakers, and left-leaning editorial pages across the country, voter fraud is a problem that doesn't exist. Allegations of fraud, they say, are little more than pretexts conjured up by Republicans to justify voter ID laws designed to suppress Democratic turnout.
That argument becomes much harder to make after reading a discussion of the 2008 Minnesota Senate race in "Who's Counting?", a new book by conservative journalist John Fund and former Bush Justice Department official Hans von Spakovsky. Although the authors cover the whole range of voter fraud issues, their chapter on Minnesota is enough to convince any skeptic that there are times when voter fraud not only exists but can be critical to the outcome of a critical race.
In the '08 campaign, Republican Sen. Norm Coleman was running for re-election against Democrat Al Franken. It was impossibly close; on the morning after the election, after 2.9 million people had voted, Coleman led Franken by 725 votes.
Franken and his Democratic allies dispatched an army of lawyers to challenge the results. After the first canvass, Coleman's lead was down to 206 votes. That was followed by months of wrangling and litigation. In the end, Franken was declared the winner by 312 votes. He was sworn into office in July 2009, eight months after the election.

Al Franken stole the election.
Why do you think they want to let felons vote?
ALL Democrats are LIARS and CHEATS and THIEVES!!
My vote didn’t count...
It wasn’t just the felons. Coleman was ahead on election night. They “found” ballot boxes, and Coleman was still ahead. It was only after a hand recount and VERY dubious reading of voter intent that Franken won.
For example, this very CLEAR over vote was counted as a VOTE FOR Franken

‘Hans von Spakovsky’
This guy is REALLY sharp - he’s on the radio quite often with our local Conserva-Babe, Vicki McKenna, AM1310.
Not only is he a terrific researcher and author, his name is really, REALLY fun to say! ;)
About the only consolation in the result was that Coleman was as squishy a Republican as Jeff Flake.
I forget how many recounts it took for Franken to finally steal the election.
From my memory, they found lost boxes of ballots, several times. Hidden back under stairs, in broom closets, you name it.
As I said on another thread, Franken has always been a jerk; that is not grounds for removing him. Stealing the election is grounds for removing him, if we had a GOP with a spine and a real Justice Department. By the way, who is in charge at Justice these days?
Where was Leeann Tweeden when Stuart smalley was stealing this MN senate seat?
Yep.
And the G—damn stupid party didn’t do a single thing about it. Shame on the stupid Stupid Party to let that thug cheat his way into an important seat.
My God, they are stupid, aren’t they??!!
They’d screw up a one man parade!
He’s sv en more corrupt than we thought.
I believe, and this appears to be saying, Franken won due to Voter Fraud.
Coleman was robbed.
Remember Lizard people?

I vaguely recall that. If the GOP hadn’t f’d up its Senate majority at the time, they could’ve seated Coleman and dispensed with the diaper wearing assclown molester Frankenstein and his voter fraud.
