Editors note: The Clarksville Police Department released details about the case that are graphic in nature and are included in the story below.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. A Clarksville father has been arrested for allegedly raping and killing his 9-month-old daughter, according to WSMV.
Officers responded to a home on Cindy Jo Court for a medical call around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday. The child was taken to Tennova where she was pronounced dead by 8 a.m.
Her father, 22-year-old Christopher Conway, is charged with homicide and aggravated rape of a child.
According to police, the infant was strangled with a cord around her neck. The infant was reportedly sexually assaulted before she was killed.
Conway was booked into the Montgomery County jail just after 4 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the Army Times, Conway is an Army combat medic at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
He is being held on $100,000 bond for the aggravated rape charge. A judge will set the bond amount for the homicide charge in court Wednesday morning.
There are good people in the world who would make wonderful parents but are unable to ever have children. And then there are despicable pieces of walking garbage like this guy who are blessed with children and then proceed to torment them and murder them.
The world simply does not make sense sometimes.
You are so right!
The horrific pain and hatred this little girl went through before she died...
My heart is broken...
Evil is real, and it is becoming pervasive. The Enemy does exist, and he is being enabled to a new level in our society.
WE NEED JUSTICE!!
You know, this would be totally acceptable throughout a large percentage of our society, and paid for with taxpayer dollars, if she had been horrifically tortured to death near the time of her birth.
While life starts at conception, it has been authoritatively shown, long before birth, these little ones can and do feel pain down to 6-8 weeks.
Only the place God designed to torment Satan, could bring justice to these militant God haters at war with moral boundaries!
Thank you...what a nice thing to say! :)
I don't even know.
All I can think of he has major PTSD. I hope he helped people as a medic, but take out his aggression or whatever on his baby is beyond the pale. Go to a boxing ring a therapist, but he just violated and lost one of the most precious gifts he was ever given.
They both need our prayers, as does the mother.
PTSD will not make a person harm a child. I know you are trying to understand this evil, but it’s not PTSD. It’s something else.
Twins? O my. Somehow that just breaks my heart more. Twins are very close. Worse than an animal.
I can go no further than the headline. Horrific for baby & all those who have to deal with the aftermath. Evil is rampant.
If ever there was a time to bring back public executions!
YOU CAN’T. My friend has been waiting since 1990 for the eecution of her 8 yr old daughter’s rapist/killer, theyn just finished state appeals where they had DNA and Confession. Fed appeals to go on another 20.
Meanwhile charles manson is on death watch in no execute Kali.
How did someone like this make it into the Army? Surely there were warning signs. And how did he find a woman to marry him?
You are wrong. No one I knew had an ounce of sympathy for Susan Smith or any murdering mothers who came after her.
Whoever did that deserves the death penalty....
Where was the mother when this happened?!
That innocent little baby is sleeping peacefully in the loving arms of the Lord, never again to know hurt or pain or rejection.
Presumption of innocence is rarely practiced anymore.
I have to agree with you both. Overly aggressive DAs seek convictions not in order to pursue justice but so they can campaign as being tough on crime. Because juries bring presumption of guilt into the courtroom they convict the accused and mandatory sentencing removes judges' discretion. End result: There are sickos running loose while at the same time there are innocent people serving time.
Add to this health care workers who may be excessively vigilant in looking for signs of abuse because their jobs (and possibly freedom) could be at risk if they miss it.
Dont get me wrong, if this guy is guilty, he should rot in hell but as a parent, its also not hard to visualize how an innocent tragedy could be turned into a Kafka-esque nightmare at the brands of overzealous medical workers and law-enforcement officials who will always give them the benefit of doubt.
he has that weird look for sure...
Yup. Sad to say, yup.
Have to agree that he must have been on some kind of drugs -- that was my first thought, and I'm surprised it took 16 posts to get to it. Your observation about FAS is quite perceptive, as well.
That poor, poor baby. The heart breaks.
Yeah, it’s pretty depressing. The universe is a cold place.
