mcalester1

McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP) is a weapons manufacturing facility in McAlester, Oklahoma, USA. Its mission is to produce and renovate conventional ammunition and ammunition related components. The plant stores war reserve and training ammunition.

McAlester performs manufacturing, industrial engineering, and production product assurance. The plant also receives, demilitarizes, and disposes of conventional ammunition components. The plant is government-owned and government-operated. It is located in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, southwest of the city of McAlester.

MCAAP was established May 20, 1943 as the McAlester Naval Depot. It became part of the Army's Single Manager for Conventional Ammunition in 1977. After the 1995 Base Realignment and Closure Commission, it acquired Red River Munitions Center in 1999.

As a result of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission, MCAAP will be acquiring additional workload. From Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, it will acquire the Sensor Fuzed Weapon and missile warhead production.

From Red River Munitions Center, Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant, and Sierra Army Depot, it will acquire demilitarization, storage, and maintenance functions.

mcalester4

MCAAP is housed on 44,964 acres with 2,891 buildings, 2,426 igloos and storage capacity of 8,840,559 square feet.

An article in the February 24, 2011 issue of the Army Times announced that a ceremony was to be held to mark the opening of a new $17-million dollar, 54,000-square-foot (5,000 m2) armed forces reserve center for reserve component units, replacing old reserve centers and national guard armories in various locations that have been or are being converted to community centers or municipal buildings.

According to the article, "The McAlester facility has offices, classrooms, workout facilities, kitchens, and a 25,000-square-foot motor pool."

MCAAP is a government-owned/government-operated (GOGO) facility and is the Defense Department's premier bomb and warhead loading facility. It is one of 14 industrial facilities in the Joint Munitions Command, and is vital to ammunition stockpile management and delivery to the joint warfighter for training and combat operations.

LOL! I didn’t see your post before typing.
Guess it wasn’t such a lazy day after all. Two hours? Dang.

Y’all were warmer than we were. It made it to 50 here with a nasty little wind from the north. Sunny but it didn’t make it feel any better.

Percy and Avatar went to the vet this afternoon but only Percy came home. He just needed shots. Avatar has a tooth or two to come out tomorrow morning.

Hubby just finished replacing our kitchen faucet. The old one had one handle to raise to turn the water on and lower to turn it off. A couple of the cats figured it out and have been turning the water on. Now we have a faucet with two knobs they can’t turn.
But ooooooh, the cussing the past hour. Kittehs wanted to “help”. LOL

ROFL!! I can just imagine him under the sink up to his armpits in cats and water stuff. They aren’t gonna like that new faucet either! :)

I hope Avatar feels better without those aching teeth to bother her. How did you know she needed them pulled? Just asking because it could happen with mine at some point in their lives. They aren’t forthcoming with clues.

Only 50? That’s pretty chilly! Hope it gets warmer for you tomorrow. I have a strange feeling...with it being less than 2 weeks till Thanksgiving [can you believe it?!!]...it’s only going to get worse!

He did have plenty of helpers, that’s for sure. I should have plucked them up and shut them away in the back part of the house but they were having so much fun. LOL

We have no idea how long the water was running this morning before Hubby woke up but it was long enough there wasn’t any hot water. That was the final straw.

Yes, Avatar will feel a lot better tomorrow once his bad tooth/teeth are gone. Not fun having a toothache.
It becomes obvious they have a problem when they start having trouble eating. They’ll also drool a lot, sometimes, and they’ll rub their mouth with their paw on the side that has the bad tooth. I saw him rubbing his face the other night and took a look, and there was one that was dagnasty. Funky brown stuff on it and the gum was red and a little swollen. He was still eating but was eating a little slower than usual. I have some of jars of baby food (pureed chicken) on hand for him to eat tomorrow evening and Wed. morning.

We’re supposed to have a couple of days in the low 60s, then it’s going to get cold Sunday into next week. Highs in the mid 40s and lows in the 30s. It’s 30 degrees tonight! BRRRRRR!! But it IS that time of year, whether we like it or not.

You really should have taken a picture of the little plumber’s helpers. :) Really!

Good information to know. I hope these never have tooth problems, but ya just can’t be sure. Especially when I have no idea what they get into when they’re out at night. Like they both are tonight. Yay! LOL! I can sleep without having to pet a cat all night. :)

I guess it’s sweater and sox weather whether we want it or not. I’m just thankful that it’s not 103 any more. Ugh. That is really a nightmare!

Yeah, I should have snapped a pic or two but I didn’t think about it. Too busy FReeping tonight to think about it.

Maybe your cats won’t have any tooth problems. Most of ours haven’t but a few seem to have them somewhat regularly. Must be in the genes. Avatar’s sister and one brother have no teeth now after having so much trouble.

Sweaters and sox weather, yep. Like it or not it’s here dang it. :-( And this old house being poorly insulated makes it tough. My feet are cold now because the floor is like ice. brrr

Poor Avatar family! I guess you have to keep a lot of soft food around for them.

I don’t mind sox weather. I usually don’t see my feet till spring. Ok...I exaggerate. I do see them when I take my bath. Or change sox! LOL!

Guess I’ll go for now. See ya tomorrow night for another quiz! Hope tomorrow is good weather for you!

I keep a few jars of baby food on hand for various reasons, primarily if one goes off its feed. It’s a good appetite starter when that happens. And if one has to have a tooth pulled, it’s easier for them to eat for a day or so. No chewing required.

They all get a little canned food at suppertime and those without teeth get it a couple other times a day/night. They can eat dry food but not as much as before so they need the supplement.

I hate wearing socks and shoes. LOL! My feet are happier in flip flops but those are retired for the next few months. *sigh*

Good night and enjoy a night’s sleep sans kittehs. :-)

Good Morning! This morning is continuing the wind and rain; unsure how much longer it’ll last. Weather people on TV saying there’ll be a break then another one ... whoopee ding.

Howdy, EGC! (((hugs)))

All is well here. It’s just now getting sunny....has been cloudy all morning. I was kind of hoping it would stay cloudy because then it stays a bit cooler. I like cool. :)

Hope you and Bo had a fun day yesterday! Did he find any critters? Where will you be going today?
