Back in 2012, John Derbyshire was fired by National Review for this column in Taki’s Magazine in which he listed the things he told his children so that they could protect themselves from black violence.
Now, in 2017, The New York Times publishes an essay by Ekow N. Yankah, a Manhattan-based law professor, saying … well, read these excerpts:
As against our gauzy national hopes, I will teach my boys to have profound doubts that friendship with white people is possible. When they ask, I will teach my sons that their beautiful hue is a fault line. Spare me platitudes of how we are all the same on the inside. I first have to keep my boys safe, and so I will teach them before the world shows them this particular brand of rending, violent, often fatal betrayal.“Spare me platitudes of how we are all the same on the inside. That is the black version of what John Derbyshire said.
Yankah says it’s Trump’s fault:
Of course, the rise of this president has broken bonds on all sides. But for people of color the stakes are different. Imagining we can now be friends across this political line is asking us to ignore our safety and that of our children, to abandon personal regard and self-worth. Only white people can cordon off Mr. Trump’s political meaning, ignore the “unpleasantness” from a position of safety. His election and the year that has followed have fixed the awful thought in my mind too familiar to black Americans: “You can’t trust these people.”

For starters:
•The evidence suggests that if there is police racial bias in arrests it is negligible. Victim and witness surveys show that police arrest violent criminals in close proportion to the rates at which criminals of different races commit violent crimes.
•Both violent and nonviolent crime has been declining in the United States since a high in 1993. 2015 saw a disturbing rise in murder in major American cities that some observers associated with depolicing” in response to intense media and public scrutiny of police activity.
Crime rates
•There are dramatic race differences in crime rates. Asians have the lowest rates, followed by whites, and then Hispanics. Blacks have notably high crime rates. This pattern holds true for virtually all crime categories and for virtually all age groups.
•In 2013, a black was six times more likely than a nonblack to commit murder, and 12 times more likely to murder someone of another race than to be murdered by someone of another race.
Interracial crime
•In 2013, of the approximately 660,000 crimes of interracial violence that involved blacks and whites, blacks were the perpetrators 85 percent of the time. This meant a black person was 27 times more likely to attack a white person than vice versa. A Hispanic was eight times more likely to attack a white person than vice versa.
Urban centers
•In 2014 in New York City, a black was 31 times more likely than a white to be arrested for murder, and a Hispanic was 12.4 times more likely. For the crime of “shooting”—defined as firing a bullet that hits someone—a black was 98.4 times more likely than a white to be arrested, and a Hispanic was 23.6 times more likely.
•If New York City were all white, the murder rate would drop by 91 percent, the robbery rate by 81 percent, and the shootings rate by 97 percent.
•In an all-white Chicago, murder would decline 90 percent, rape by 81 percent, and robbery by 90 percent.
Police shootings
•In 2015, a black person was 2.45 times more likely than a white person to be shot and killed by the police. A Hispanic person was 1.21 times more likely. These figures are well within what would be expected given race differences in crime rates and likelihood to resist arrest.
•In 2015, police killings of blacks accounted for approximately 4 percent of homicides of blacks. Police killings of unarmed blacks accounted for approximately 0.6 percent of homicides of blacks. The overwhelming majority of black homicide victims (93 percent from 1980 to 2008) were killed by blacks.
MLK jr would be heartbroken: on the cusp of achieving his “dream”, the ones he tried to save tear progress apart because they can’t live without the struggle.
A 2012 statement by him (Derbyshire) on VDARE attracted more media attention:
Leaving aside the intended malice, I actually think “White Supremacist” is not bad semantically. White supremacy, in the sense of a society in which key decisions are made by white Europeans, is one of the better arrangements History has come up with. There have of course been some blots on the record, but I don’t see how it can be denied that net-net, white Europeans have made a better job of running fair and stable societies than has any other group.[20]
Uh, tell me where he is wrong?

A black friend remarked to me about his concerns about his son getting accidentally shot by police. I told him that, statistically, his kid is much more likely to get shot by another black teen who mistakenly thinks he’s a member of a rival gang.
I haven’t done a drive by shooting, or sold drugs in some back alley, or intimidated voters at the polls or knocked out anyone of any color as they were walking down the street.
Two-words that when used together often denote ignorance mixed with hubris.

I suspect that many small minded proponents of white racism really need it to feel like they are heroes, even when it is very rare.
Black-on-black violence is a huge problem in the black community.
This guy is obvious a bigoted racist himself by arbitrarily saying his sons face more violence from whites than blacks in their lives.
Try living in south Chicago as a black kid, professor. Black gangs murder them all the time there.
It is amazing how absolutely wrong two well heeled me can be.
The first because he imagines the danger to his sons comes from white people rather than from other black people, the second because he imagines that voting for Trump is somehow leading to violence by a Trump voters even as the only notable violence, Islamists aside, has been (by the hands of whites) in AntiFa.
We maybe should partly tolerate the narrow mindedness of the former, likely living far from the habitual criminal underclass that is the real scourge of Black America, in thinking things like this, that his boys may indeed be not at risk to black-on-black violence, though servicing the tired myth that racism is unchanged merits mocking ... BUT idiot #2 is delusional/deceived and deserves no such consideration.
If one of his boys, under his influence, joins AntiFa and goes about smacking people with heavy locks unprovoked or other things that AntiFa thugs do will he blame whites if someone, while defending themselves, shoots his boy? You can bet he will!
Well if the white peeps at the NYT are that violent then maybe they should stop hiring felons and violent people. Duh!
