The mother of Leigh Corfman, who says that Alabama Senatorial Candidate Roy Moore tried to engage in a sexual encounter with her when she was 14, told Breitbart News that the Washington Post worked to convince her daughter to give an interview about the allegations against Moore.
Speaking by phone to Breitbart News on Saturday, Corfmans mother, Nancy Wells, 71, further stated that her daughter would not have come forward if it werent for The Post reporters alleged actions.
Corfman went public with her accusations against Moore in a Washington Post interview published last week in which she alleged that Moore attempted to initiate sexual contact with her in 1979 when she was 14. Three other women between the ages of 16 and 18 claim that when Moore was in his 30s, he attempted to court them or that he dated them. The current age of consent in Alabama is 16.
Moore has strongly denied the accusations. He has questioned the timing of The Posts story, which was dropped mere weeks before the December 12 election.
Corfmans mother, Wells, told Breitbart News that reporters for the Washington Post convinced her daughter to give them an interview.
She did not go to them, said Wells. They called her.
They tried to convince her to do it? this reporter asked.
Yes, replied Wells, matter-of-factly.

How much payola did it take to convince her? Seeing as how she has went bankrupt three times, and has made sexual accusations against preachers, it probably didn't take much.
I am thinking she be livin' in a trailer park and it cost WaPoo only a hundred bucks.

I wish there was a RateAReporter.com website that would serve as an intake point for ALL (I mean everything) old personal conduct information regarding every employed so-called journalist. Unlike the 2nd Amendment, there is no licensing or rating agency for the 1st Amendment related issues. We have a right to be FULLY informed.

For forty years I have been closely scrutinized in the press and the public media.
I have had investigations by the attorney general,
Ive had investigations by the judicial inquiry commission on more than one occasion,
Ive had investigations by the court of the judiciary,
Ive been in five statewide campaigns in which they do opposition researchthey do investigations, as you can see in every one Ive ever run
and three county elections
and two major controversies over religious liberty
and the Ten Commandments
and same-sex marriage, he continued.
Ive been investigated more than any other person in this country.
That grown women would wait forty years to come right before an election to bring charges is absolutely unbelievable. BOOM.
Works for me.

It suggests that there was actually some contact between Moore and the girl in the 70s. If the woman needed convincing to talk, it suggests somebody else in Etowah County knew that something happened and got the Post in contact with reluctant accuser. I agree with the premise in your second sentence: 'somebody else in Etowah County knew ...', but not with the premise in your first sentence: 'It suggests that there was actually some contact between Moore and the girl in the 70s'.
I think a more probable scenario is that the girl had some contact with an older man in the 70s, but she just claimed this older man was Moore in her conversations with this 'somebody else' in order to enhance her story. She never intended for the story to go beyond yakking with her 'friend' - but later her 'friend' contacted the Post - and now she is stuck with the story. He said/she said - and Roy Moore can't prove otherwise. Guilty until proven innocent - as the esteemed Congressman from New York, Peter King, said....
Although no crimes are claimed - I'll go with Roy Moore's recollection.
