....On April 29, 2016, when the DNC became aware its servers had been penetrated, an emergency meeting was held between the Chairwoman of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, DNC’s Chief Executive, Amy Dacey, the DNC’s Technology Director, Andrew Brown, and Michael Sussman, a lawyer for Perkins Coie, a Washington, DC law firm that represented the DNC. Sussman took control of the meeting, setting out the DNC’s agenda when it came to dealing with the cyber attack on its server. The three most important questions, Sussman declared, were what data was accessed, how was it done, and how can it be stopped? The one question Sussman, a former federal prosecutor who focused on computer crimes, did not ask was, who did it?
It took the DNC four days to decide to bring in an outside vendor to investigate the breach of its servers. In the end, it was Sussman who made the call to...CrowdStrike. The call was made on May 4; by May 5 CrowdStrike had installed its FalconHost software that had triggered the Russian attribution.

For more than 30 days CrowdStrike had exclusive control over the DNC server. During this time, CrowdStrike made an attribution of Russian involvement that has been shown to be fundamentally flawed, and oversaw the transfer of politically sensitive documents, some of which may have been tainted by CrowdStrike’s own actions, to parties who subsequently leaked this material in a politically impactful manner....The data that would shed important light into the most significant claims of Russian involvement in the 2016 US Presidential election...remains out of the hands of those conducting the investigation.
It is difficult to avoid the conclusion that CrowdStrike, by irresponsibly and deliberately attributing the DNC cyber attack to Russia, is involved in deception on a scale that is hard to measure.

I frankly don’t know much about him, but I was impressed by the level of detail and analysis in this article - the most thorough expose of the DNC hack and the alleged Russian attribution that I’ve seen.
Crowdstrike is an "Outside vendor?" That's like saying OFA is an independent "grassroots" entity. In fact, no government agency was ever allowed to examine the servers.
Just so everyone knows,

1. CrowdStrike was called in and supposedly installed its anti-breach software on May 6, 2016. However, much of the leaked emails were extracted from the DNC servers AFTER that date. Indeed, the leaked emails have clearly been “curated” based on his analysis of the dates in the metadata (e.g., there are few emails dated prior to April 19, when the hack is meant to have started, but hackers would have taken everything they could extract once they got it in).
Steve writes: “There were no fewer than 14409 emails in the Wikileaks archive dating after Crowdstrike’s installation of its security software. In fact, more emails were hacked after Crowdstrike’s discovery [of the breach] on May 6 than before. I’ve looked at lots of metadata both in connection with Climategate and more recently in connection with the DNC hack, and, in my opinion, the chances of this metadata being left by mistake is zero. Precisely what it means is a big puzzle though.”

There’s other interesting coincidences, including the coincidental timing of destruction of our own wmd arsenal which for some reason was proceeding behind schedule as if overwhelmed, with shipments from overseas of Russian material for reprocessing, all at the same time as equipment from Iraq’s programs was showing up in Jordanian and European ports and scrapyards, and Iraqi scientists were found in Syria, Libya, Egypt, etc.

One wonders whether more than simply the hours to draft a request, make the trip roundtrip DC-HNL-DC was ultimately paid for this exercise. Was money for a forgery laundered through Perkins Coie, as we've seen being alleged more recently?

He also mentioned it in a Time interview in 2002.
(Note that Scott decided not to report “the gruesome details” of what he saw in the children’s prisons [in 1998] because he was afraid it would “be used by those who would want to promote war with Iraq, and right now I’m waging peace.”)
...which was very convenient for Bill Clinton...who was content to pass the tarbaby to the next president.
Interesting stuff, but for those without the time, inclination or knowledge to realize get your head around all of this, the bottom line in my view is the refusal of the DNC to allow a forensic examination of the allegedly hacked server by the FBI or anyone else not under their employment, which refusal continues to this very day.
