Following passage of a joint State Senate resolution Tuesday, Wisconsin became the 28th state to call for a U.S. constitutional convention.

Earlier this year, the Wisconsin State Assembly passed a similar resolution.

As the resolutions have now passed both houses of the state Legislature, and as Governor Scott Walker’s approval is not needed, last night’s vote made Wisconsin’s call for a constitutional convention official.

The convention was called in support of a proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution which would require the federal government to operate under a balanced budget.

Agree. What’s the ‘win’ here?

Libs already want to ax the First Amendment (hate speech is non speech).

How else will they destroy what little rights we have left? Take out the 2nd Amendment?

What’s the purpose?

Some good might have come from ours in NYS. We might have been able to defuse our public pension debt bomb. But a con con was voted down. So now, no chance of that.

Live in Upstate. Voted No to Convention. Ours was different from Wisconsin. We were calling for a NYS convention notr a National Convention.

Most changes can be legislated away....i.e., voted Yes on Proposition 2.

We need the Soros family, Tom Steyer, and the liberal tech-tards spending billions on influencing a convention like we need a hole in the head.

This is a bad trend.

If the constitution is ever opened for revision at a convention it would be stripped of protections and loaded down with globalist, socialist, politically correct garbage.

Well meaning people might think they could control the process and implement only meaningful changes in compliance with the spirit and word of the constitution as it now stands.

But they would get steam-rollered the same way the democrats, GOPe, wealthy leftists and globalists are trying to steam-roller President Trump and his administration.

The way they were able to engineer the buying and stealing of elections this past Tuesday is an example of what would happen at a constitutional convention.

...The ConCon being voted on will only be allowed to consider to require the federal government to operate under a balanced budget. Nothing else. No Second Amendment revision, no change of the electoral college... absolutely nothing else. The Constitution only allows specific and PRESTATED listed amendments to be considered. Absolutely Nothing else. It is not a free for all “Let’s do the whole thing.”

That’s what was supposed to happen in 1787.

You are 100% correct. That is exactly what will happen.

Upstater here, too. And public employee pensions are protected by our state constitution. Which is why I voted yes.

I am slower than molasses this morning. Article is indeed about a national convention. Hmmm...how do I feel about that? I’d support that, too.

The Con-Con of 1787 was to ONLY consider provisions for an Army and Navy—nothing else!
Instead, THEY $h!tCanned our first Con and dumped a new Con on us that haunts us to this day!

3/4 ths of the states must approve of amendments. Good things Congress would never pass have a chance to be considered.

The 1787 ConCon was called to revise the Articles of Confederation. There wasn’t even a Constitution yet.
The result of the Convention was the creation of the United States Constitution in 1787.

While I fully support the Convention of States efforts, this “call” for an amendment convention is a different one.

I see the usual “arguments” here on this thread that are fully answered and non-issues.
