At least 16 people have been shot inside a Texas church after a gunman opened fire during the Sunday morning service.
The shooting happened at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, where around 50 people usually attend service, according to local reports.
Witnesses said a man 'in full gear' walked inside the church and opened fire just before 10.30am.
Neighbors in the area said they may have heard the shooter reload multiple times.
Another witness at the scene said a two-year-old was also shot in the attack.
According to KSAT, there were at least six helicopters called in to transport victims to the hospital.
It's unclear if anyone was fatally wounded in the attack.

Churches are a special case. The pastor needs to give permission for any armed security or CHL holders. I asked the pastor at my old church years ago about this, and he was absolutely not interested. Most of the mainline denominations are anti-gun anyway. The rest are a mixed bag. The people in the pews are a mixed bag. Maybe if some decent sermons on the right (duty?) of self-defense were given, some minds would change. I have met quite a few very anti-gun conservative Christians over the years. Mainly, but not exclusively, women.
FYI....
The First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs Texas has a Youtube Channel.
They record their church Sermon every week and post it to Youtube. There is probably a tape out there, but I am sure the FBI already has it.

Thanks, RG.
Thanks for the ping. I very much appreciate it.
Prayers for all those affected. It’s hard to grasp the magnitude of the loss.
There is another name floating around twitter..I am NOT going to say the name in case its fake news..but its coming from the Santa Monica Observer web site
I know of at least one concealed carrier in our congregation, who carries in spite of the “gun free zone” policy of our pastor and board. I always check to make sure that person is in attendance. :-)
That may or may not be an accurate report regarding the same Cris Ward who I posted a photo of and FB page screen capture. In any case, people are now saying the shooter's name wasn't Cris Ward. That A Cris Ward was in fact one of the victims.
I also read that the killer wasn't from the town where the shooting occurred. Yet the FB page says Ward *was* from that town. Also, someone on one of these threads said he/she heard reports that the shooter was "brown" skinned.
There is a name floating around, from the Santa Monica Observer web site, that he is a former marine, convert to Islam, and that he has an online manifesto..I wont say his name since this might be fake news but will see
That name from the Web site you mentioned also floated around during the Las Vegas shooting, turned out to be a hoax
4chan had someone saying a refugee camp is around the church
I saw that tweet, but cannot find it, now. If you have the tweet, you can post it. Just a way to info gather. Thanks.
Wow, IF that is the shooter then that’s quite a development.
I am sympathetic to the notion that a house of worship should be a sanctuary free from weapons. Although these days, that appears merely an aspiration.
Yes, Disgusting.
Does the last name begin with a K and end with a Y?
I googled the name they provided, and this same name was used in a hoax alleging the identity of the Las Vegas shooter.
