America’s biggest problem right now is that “We’ve got people in charge of important shit who don’t believe in science.”
Well, at least it is if you believe that world-renowned expert Harrison Ford.
Ford was speaking at an environmental awards ceremony in Culver City, California, where he was fêted for his work as executive vice chair of Conservation International.
According to Hollywood Reporter:
“We face an unprecedented moment in this country. Today’s greatest threat is not climate change, not pollution, not flood or fire,” Ford said during his acceptance speech of the Founders’ Award. “It’s that we’ve got people in charge of important shit who don’t believe in science.”
He went on to criticize those politicians who let “political or economic self-interest denigrate or belittle sound scientific understanding of the causes and effects of human pressure on the environment.”
Yeah, right. The problem with this speech is that every word is tosh, including all the “ands” and “buts.”

Actors like this must think they’re as educated as the characters they play. I would be surprised if he has a high school education, much less anything further in the science field. He’s obviously not a very good pilot either.
Makes a person damned proud they never invested a penny or time in the movie or series of movies. Know-it-alls, every one of them. Too old to be a headliner, attemptiing to be a leftist indoctrinator must be the next rung step down.

Perhaps this reaction is mine alone. I read up to the first curse word, “important shit,” and stopped there. As a note to people who comment on either side of the argument, I think they undermine their points if they resort to curse words or name calling.
I like Harrison Ford and I really appreciated it when he was asked something about politics and responded, along the lines of, “I’m an actor. Nobody wants to hear what an actor thinks about politics.” I guess that has changed.
Mr. Ford, you could fit one million, three-hundred thousand Earths inside the sun. The sun is the biggest driver of climate change, followed by the current location of the Earth’s rotational axis compared to that of the sun and then by the positions of the continents and the route of the major currents. If you think CO2 has a big bearing on it, I’d remind you that within living memory we burned down almost every city in Europe plus burned and sank hundreds of tankers. A year after the war the skies were clear again. I read that the Mt. St. Helens blast dumped the equivalent of all the CO2 caused by the Industrial Revolution.
Hey there washed up actor. Is the science you’re talking about the same science that concludes that a baby in the womb is just “tissue?”
