At a sentencing that took only minutes, the military judge, Col. Jeffery R. Nance of the Army, also reduced Sergeant Bergdahls rank to private and required him to forfeit $1,000 a month of his pay for 10 months. Prosecutors had sought 14 years in a military prison.
President Trump, who has labeled Sergeant Bergdahl a dirty rotten traitor, quickly criticized Fridays sentence, calling it a complete and total disgrace to our Country and to our Military.
Yeah my fellow vets on social media have been venting most of the day. The DD is appropriate, but no jail time.... that just isnt right.
Amen. I hope Bannon’s America First campaign is a resounding success, and the GOP elite majority is smashed to smitherines, and replaced with TRUE patriots. Then watch President Trump do even more amazing things for our country!
THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP! You are the greatest president ever!!
Isn’t it normal also to have retroactive demotions, and have to return their pay for the months or years at the higher rank?
This sentence is not even a slap on the wrist. Wonder if 0bama’s command influence created this situation.
Colonel Jeffery R. Nance of the US Army will go down in history as a blithering anti-American idiot.
The scumbag is a dirty rotten traiter. My opinion, he should face a firing squad.
Crazy!
I expected a lenient sentence- between 5 to 10 years. This is just crazy.
Col. Jeffery R. Nance.
Now there’s a guy who has his retirement papers in and a cushy job lined up at some libtard law school.
Inexplicable sentencing result. All you can do is run people like that out of the service.
On the plus side, a dishonorable discharge will pretty much ruin his life and future.
$10k fine and $300k in back pay. It’s a joke
Desertion only means a dishonorable discharge? That’s it? What’s it take to go to jail, murder the judge??
He’ll get a new identity.
Generals Washington, Sherman, Lee, Grant, Jackson, and perhaps Patton would have had him executed before the sun went down on the day of prisoner exchange.
“On the plus side, a dishonorable discharge will pretty much ruin his life and future.”
No, it won’t. Obama saw to it that federal convictions don’t mean sh*t anymore. Federal DOL has regs about that.
Leaks have disclosed that Bergdahl misconduct included ratting operational secrets on his fellow soldiers that caused a lot of problems and casualties for our guys in Afghanistan and also that there is evidence that Bergdahl took up arms with the Taliban and was caught fighting against American troops
Agree.
On the positive aspect my tax dollars will not be going for his room and board!
Maybe he will get caught in a bear trap up by the tree line in the Sawtooth Mountains and provide nourishment for vultures :)
A dishonorable discharge is a badge of honor to MSNBC.
From earlier: So this piece of excrement who said the Taliban treated him better than he receives in the US despite the fact that he's responsible for the deaths of five of his squad plus their search dog, received as a hero by 0bama and gets basically a walk. His ten grand fine will be made up the first time he appears on The View and get multiple requests from liberals to give speeches on how he hates America. He should looks both ways before crossing the street; just a safety note.
