Trump pollster thinks Sanders would have won 2016 election
NY Post ^ | October 31, 2017 | Mark Moore

The pollster for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign said he believes Bernie Sanders could have won the 2016 election had he won the Democratic nomination instead of Hillary Clinton.

Asked during an event at Harvard University who would have prevailed in a race between Sanders and Trump, Tony Fabrizio said: “I think Sanders beats Trump,” The Hill reported.

“I think Sanders would have had the ability to reach a lot of the less than college-educated, low-income white voters,” he said at the event for the Harvard University Institute of Politics on Monday evening.

Writing in “What Happened,” Clinton’s memoir about the election, she blamed Sanders, a Vermont independent, for attacking her with “innuendo” and said he did little to help her rally progressives after she won the nomination.

Fabrizio said the contest between Trump and Clinton was one for the ages.

“There’s no question that if it had been anybody other than Clinton or anybody other than Trump, that race would not have been as close as it was either way,”

This all assumes Trump would campaign like he was still running against Clinton.

Tactics would change against Bernie Commie.

Bernie would have energized his supporters more than the witch though.

[I think he’s simply mocking Hillary Clinton, rather than genuinely believing in Sanders’s ability to win a national election.]

You may be on to something. He’s pushing Clinton’s buttons and trying to float a narrative.

Obama has a shuck and jive, con man facade some people find attractive. Sanders has a cartoonish, crazy old man persona.

It would have been a closer race perhaps. Both Trump and Sanders would have been going for the same group....the working class in the rust belt. Would have been an interesting race.

I agree. I think Sanders was unbeatable. A lot of dont realize how many Americans support Socialism these days.

Donald Trump realizes how many Americans support socialism these days. Heck -- a lot of what he supports himself would be branded "socialism" by any measure.

If he had faced Sanders he would have been running a campaign based on promises to deliver a bigger, better and more exciting version of whatever Sanders was promising. And he would have pegged Sanders with a nickname like "#BrokenDownBernie" or something like that to help make his case. LOL.

Remember that Trump ran as an outsider, and Bernie Sanders has been in Washington since 1991 -- longer than even Hillary Clinton. Trump's campaign against Sanders would have been very simple -- to the point where it would have been repeated at least a dozen times in each debate on national television:

"If you're so effective at getting things done, Broken Down Bernie, then why haven't you gotten any of this done in 25 years?"

Promoting Sanders is good business for Trump. Perhaps Bern can be induced to run again in 2020.

I am not so sure. I think they saw Sanders as “Grandpa”.

Would Trump have run the same campaign against Sanders? Absolutely not; IF the comparison is the campaign that Trump ran vs a hypothetical Sander’s campaign, then yes, Sanders would have won both the real contest, the electoral college, and the popular vote.

But again, Trump would have run a dramatically different campaign against Sanders and he would have wiped the board with him, possibly even flipping NY.

gibsmedat

For generations, the colloquialism has always been, 'gimme dat'.

Someone mangled it into 'gibsmedat' a couple of years ago, and spread like a teenage fad.

The Clinton org is ruthless and adept but the Capo is not terribly smart and she undoubtedly overrode the strategies of her underlings. She should have let Mr Bill run the campaign. Of course, did that happen then DJT had run a very different campaign.

[less than college-educated]

Students have been ‘conditioned’ by political science teachers since before high school. An observation made during our local junior college’s 2016 mock election. They were all in it for BERNIE.

The real culture war is being waged in the minds and hearts of our children. We the People must take back our schools.

/// “. . . I think Sanders [could] have won. There are simply too many people invested in the gibsmedat culture of free stuff paid for by someone else.” ///

This is not implausible. But it should be TERRIFYING to all of us. Remember, Bolsheviks need only win ONE election. Like in Russia, it will be the LAST one.

Trump would have still won, but Trump likely would not have gotten WI or MI.

People do NOT understand economics or liberty. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM.

It is a problem that can't be solved. It inheres in the public schools which are so totally in the control of the left that no reforming of the system or the Teachers' colleges can affect it for a couple of decades. The only effective step would be to simply close all the public schools by fiat or at least remove all government funding from all schools from K through post grad. That, of course, would wipe out many districts but would return schools to the locals, who, unfortunately, were raised in the same schools and do not have any concept of history or civics or economics themselves.

She used that tactic against Trump -- the dossier her campaign seemed to have paid for and collusion with 'the Russians'.

==

Sanders v Trump would have gone to Sanders? I doubt that. The ones voting for Hillary would not necessarily have voted for Sanders. Likely, they would have stayed home rather than vote for either Sanders or Trump, and that still would have given the edge to Trump.

Are you postulating that a person like me would prefer Sanders to Trump? You’re very wrong, my FRiend. We less~educated, white trash types carried Donald into office.
