Actor Gary Sinise was named grand marshal of the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade at the Tournament House in Pasadena Monday morning.
During Mondays ceremony, Sinise recalled growing up watching the Rose Parade from his home in very, very cold Chicago and being jealous of those in attendance. And now here I am all those years later as the grand marshal of the 2018 Rose Parade. This is just amazing, Sinese said.
He then quoted the famous Forest Gump line, Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what youre going to get.
As grand marshal, Sinise will ride in the 129th Rose Parade on January 1, which is themed Making a Difference.
The theme is a tribute to Rose Parade volunteers, and to volunteers helping others across America, Tournament of Roses President Lance Tibbet said.

One of the very few good men in Hollywood.
“It’s just your time”, Mr. Sinese.
Enjoy your well deserved honor.
Morning in America!
Gary’s a great guy
I looked his background up.
Gary Alan Sinise was born in Blue Island, Illinois, to Mylles S. (Alsip) and Robert L. Sinise, A.C.E., a film editor. He is of Italian (from his paternal grandfather), English, Scottish, Irish, French, German, and Swedish ancestry.
I thought his roots were more Italian than that but he’s got a good pedigree :)
Al Pacino, I’m sure is left wing, but he pretty much keeps his mouth shut, thank God.
Robert De Niro DESTROYED his fame by acting in every movie that came his way over the past 15 years and for being a left wing dimwit
Do you really think the left will allow this to stand?
Naw, he must have felt someone or something up at some point.
“You still Lt. Dan”
That’s great news.
So true.
I think Forest Gump did more for Sinise’s career than it did Hanks’s.
Sinice has also done a lot of shows for the troops overseas. One of the few good guys from that cesspool called Hollywood
Indeed, missed him in Japan by a few days while I was passing through. My friends told me he was excellent and very grateful to the troops. He played lead guitar in his “Lt Dan band”.
Regards
You’re probably right about that. His portrayal of Lt. Dan stuck with me longer than anything us from that movie, and in a good way. Really glad a good guy like that got the career boost.
The best
WINNING!! Take that Hollywood!
GREAT performance.
My 13 year old niece finished reading it a few weeks ago and was depressed for days.
She’s part of an advanced English course.
Come to think of it, it is a really depressing story!! :)
Gary Sienese is a good guy. We really enjoyed his Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders Show. It was cancelled apparently because it showed other nations in a bad light.....suggesting that Americans werent safe traveling to certain conttries. I WISH there were more unselfish, compassionate celebrities, but he is certainly a bright light in the darkness of Hollywood.
