With the first indictment looming from the federal Trump-Russia investigation, President Donald Trump is getting a reminder: His pardoning pardons cant fix everything.
I don't think the president's power is all that absolute, as people have been suggesting, California Representative Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, told ABC News This Week Sunday.
The president cannot pardon people if it's an effort to obstruct justice, if it's an effort to prevent Bob Mueller and others from learning about the President's own conduct. So, there are limitations.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who has been investigating the Trump campaigns potential Russia ties, is expected to unseal his first criminal charges as early as Monday.
Schiff said he has not been told who will be hit by the indictments, but he believes based on press reports that it will either be former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort or former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Both men resigned from their positions after controversy over their ties to foreign governments, which Mueller has been scrutinizing.
If Trump tries to pardon whoever faces charges, he could several major hurdles.
The Constitution allows the president broad powers to pardon people for Offenses against the United States." There is no precedent for a sitting president pardoning people tied to his campaign, as will likely be the case for Muellers debut indictment.

Even someone convicted of a non-federal state crime?
Fake news
Why would he want to pardon crooked Democrats?
Lawfare.
In totalitarian countries, Marxists first identify the criminal, then find the crime, hold a trial, and send the criminal off to prison.
In the US, Marxists first identify the criminal, then find the crime, hold a trial, and destroy the criminal’s life, family, reputation and finances before sending him off to prison.

Well he “thinks it’s not unlimited”, so it must be so....
He could even pardon Hillary, but that "aint gonna" happen.

>> There is no limit as to the power of the President when it comes to Pardoning Powers <<
Agreed, as far as Federal jurisdiction is concerned.
But if campaign employees violated New York laws (for example), then the POTUS’s pardon power would not come into play.
Check out all the Yahoo Leftist replies.
They think the President can’t pardon either, and are in joyous “Fitzmas” over Trump allies doing the frog march tomorrow.
I think a bunch of nitwits could be disappointed when the person/s they arrest are low level and hardly heard of.
Just last week, can’t remember where I read it, some name was mentioned that I had not heard of, but Mueller wanted to talk to him.
This could be about the end of the Mueller investigation and a scalp will be taken.
“Trump’s pardon powers could be limited”
Don’t be absurd.
Schiff for brains
Except in cases of impeachment. Pardons only are for federal cases and the president probably cant pardon himself due to the impeachment limitation. So could he pardon anyone indicted by Mueller? Probably yes.
There is a reason the rag NewsWEAK sold for a dollar. How incredibly stupid.
It hasn’t mattered since Lincoln, most of the time. Deep state controls both party’s . We ve known that for years. I dont think I’m voting for Gillespie now in Virginia. He’s another establishment swamp creature. As we get rid of more of the creatures. Then we can go back and prosecute the traitors. Which there are many.
