Who would have thought that just as Hollywood was falling apart, its box office receipts in the toilet and its most Oscar-laden producer being revealed to have spent the better part of his life in one, a new producer would come riding in on a white horse to save the entertainment industry and that producer would be... Sean Hannity?!
Well, not by himself. The popular Fox News host is flanked by three more seasoned filmmakers director/actor Kevin Sorbo, his wife, actress/writer Sam Sorbo and longtime screenwriter Dan Gordon. Their film Let There Be Light opened Friday in a few hundred theaters nationwide. I saw it in the privacy of my office where, as an Academy member, I often watch screeners while, I'm ashamed to admit, multitasking. This time I didn't. The movie was too compelling.
The reason was simple. Unlike almost all Hollywood fare, this film was made for a purpose beyond the personal enrichment or aggrandizement of the filmmakers.

As much as I would love to support Sean Hannity’s film, I will not put a dime in anyone related to Hollywood’s pocket on any level. It’s like this pablum coming out called “Thank you for youe service”.It’s Hollywood’s way of trying to muddke America to spend money by trotting out a movie about veterans when they could give a crap about our military. I’m not putting Sean Hannity’s film in that same category, but all that being said that it is still made in Hollywood, it is still money going into their pockets. They don’t deserve a dime of my money or a moment of my time. Sorry Sean...
Im going to see it.
This is playing in only 3 theatres in WI — none of them in the major markets of Milwaukee, or Madison. However, 2 of the theatres are Marcus theatres, so maybe next week.
Leftists took over America’s cultural institutions.
Looks like the movie industry is ripe for re-invention by Conservatives.
From the article: “....Sean Hannity, of all people, has actually gone and done it.
Actually, the right approach is NOT to go through Hollywood, but to build a system of our own. Listening to Sean on the Mark Levin show Friday, I suspect he gets this. He was proud they made and are distributing this film outside the system. That is the way to do it.........”
IN THE ARTICLE it clearly states the above with regards to the making of the film OUTSIDE THE SYSTEM.
I want to support good films, so I went to see it on Friday.
We need people to do to the movies what Fox did to Television.
What the devil is the film about?
Kevin Sorbo?
Reaching waaay back for that guy.
Knight Rider wasn’t available?
Bring back the Duke.
IIRC the story line was presented initially by Sorbo, and his wife. Not sure, but I think that’s how it got started, so naturally Kevin Sorbo would be the lead choice. Makes sense to me anyway.
Please tell us how you liked it, or if you didn't.
Thanks,
Leni/MinuteGal
So the behind-the-scenes Hollywood-based workers who tend to be a lot more conservative than the overpaid, liberal-deranged “stars” don’t deserve a paycheck when they work on a conservatively funded film?
Another great piece. I agree with him on the one flaw of the (excellent, go read it) Hollywood Expose on Breitbart: The reason they are all left isnt just tribal. That isnt a reason. It isnt a why, its the how. They keep each other in the lefty Hollywood fold by being tribal.
And this guy Simon says they do it out of guilt, that they know they are selfish sellouts, so the phony lefty altruism helps them construct a fantasy world where they can feel good about themselves. He is nailing it. They are desperately afraid to be seen as the scummy greedy phonies they are.
I am so happy to see the cheap curtain being pulled down from around the glitterati of the Hollywood crowd, plastic pretty outside, ugly as rape inside.
It's a movie that emphasizes Christian beliefs. The plot is about an atheist book writer who gets in a car wreck and how his life changes after the vision he had while dead for 4 minutes.
How was it?
I really want to see it, but I have too many people I need to watch and the closest theater is one hour away. Each way. Maybe next week?
For the most part, the movie was filmed in Birmingham, AL. They are trying to provide alternatives to Hollywood and these are not your typical Hollywood actors.
Planning on seeing it!
Driving 30 miles, but we need to support this......
I want to see it. I’ll support Sean and his movie every way I can. Hollywood is laying rotten egg after rotten egg lately and I’m happy as a clam about that.......;) I’m anxious to see what kind of reception this movie gets......;)
Kevin Sorbo has been making Christian movies for a while now. His Gods Not Dead was pretty big in Christian circles just a few years ago.
