Washington (CNN) A federal grand jury in Washington, DC, on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources briefed on the matter. The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge.
Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said.
It is unclear what the charges are. A spokesman for the special counsel's office declined to comment.
Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Under the regulations governing special counsel investigations, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who has oversight over the Russia investigation, would have been made aware of any charges before they were taken before the grand jury for approval, according to people familiar with the matter.
On Friday, top lawyers who are helping to lead the Mueller probe, including veteran prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, were seen entering the court room at the DC federal court where the grand jury meets to hear testimony in the Russia investigation.
Reporters present saw a flurry of activity at the grand jury room, but officials made no announcements.

Mueller is authorized to investigate "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation," according to Rosenstein's order.
The special counsel's investigation has focused on potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as obstruction of justice by the President, who might have tried to impede the investigation.
CNN reported that investigators are scrutinizing Trump and his associates' financial ties to Russia. Mueller's team has also examined foreign lobbying conducted by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and others. His team has issued subpoenas for documents and testimony to a handful of figures...

I believe that description would apply to both John Podesta and Debbie Blabbermouth-Schultz.
I would not be shocked if this Marc Elias guy is facing some legal trouble.
Likely Manafort.
Dark horse... Carter Page.
Darker Horse...Jared Kushner.
And if it is CNN, the joke is on us. Be prepared for head explodey...
Like others say, the left is extremely dirty and play for keeps. Meanwhile, the GOP allows the left to break every damn law in the book. And then....”Trump apologises for the IRS”...
Another beer please...
Do you mean he may be one of the targets here?!
I don’t know about this particular clip, but it is a real phenomenon. Never seen it with wild boar (didn’t have ‘em where I grew up), but I’ve seen rabbits do it with my own eyes. No matter how many times you’ve seen it before, you never get tired of it, especially with hawks circling overhead waiting to pick the rabbits off when they make a run for it. Hawks are smart and almost inevitably show up when you’re about done, provided you’re plowing in concentric circles from the outside in.
I highly doubt that the savage liberal lawyers under Mueller ran to court to indict a democrat. These people despise Trump and love Hilary.
Yes and Comey is guilty of fabricating false evidence in presenting the dossier to get the wiretap Comey and Mueller could share a cell
Lots of speculation. Will be Interesting to see if Boente news triggered the CNN story.
What comments?
Gotta be Flynn or Manafort. Low hanging fruit there and no way would Mueller start off with a Dim.
Putin.
No idea. People throwing out all kinds of theories including that one.
I cant even begin to guess
Maybe it will be Manafort AND the Podesta brothers who are indicted
Spot on.
If it was a Dem they would have released the indictment info tonight..most people dont watch the news over the weekend..the fact that its being done on Monday, start the new week means it will be someone connected to Trump, to take the focus off of Uranium One/Clinton/Obama/Russia/Podesta
And if it’s Manafort then it involves both a Trump associate and a Clinton/Obama associate.
Man. I just left for an hour and come back to indictments. Yikes! Now gotta read thread:)
