Texas Houston owners Bob McNair apologized Friday afternoon for comments he made during an owners meeting about national anthem protests.
McNair previously said about the national anthem protests, “We can’t have the inmates running the prison.”
It didn’t take long for him to change his tune and apologize. He released the following statement on Twitter:
I regret I used that expression. I never meant to hurt anyone and I was not referring to our players. I used a figure of speech that was never intended to be taken literally. I would never characterize our players or our league that way and I apologize to anyone who was offended by it.

We all knew it would only be a matter of time before McNair had to walk back his comments, and it turned out it only took a couple of hours.
I guess his comment hit too close to home.
How about asylum instead of prison? Is that offensive as well?
Doesnt the correct expression replace the word prison with asylum? Because of the switch of words there Im sure that he meant it.
The truth hurts sometimes. Deal with it snowflakes.
He is correct. Many of the NFL Players would probably be muscle for Thugs and Drug lords without the NFL.
Smh. Apologizing for the truth.
And won't matter a hill of beans.
Those who go through life just waiting to be offended, do not accept apologies.
Those who applaud his pushback are disgusted by his cave.
So he gains nothing from backing away, and reaps the scorn of everyone.
Or "thugs running the hood?"
Or "the commies running the team?"
Or "the fans getting what they want?"
Titantic captain apologizes for hitting that nasty iceberg. Won’t happen again, he swears...
If the NFL did close down, how many felons would be put out on the streets?

that is a good question....so many of these guys are idiots and if they did not have football they do not have enough respect for self and others that I see them getting locked up for murder and other crimes with in 3 years of graduating high school. not all because there are more great guys who do have the respect for self and other but there is a thug factor within the league
No doubt an intemperate comment, delivered in frustration of an owner who has lost control of his franchise and workforce. His next step should be one that gives the fan a place at the table as to what they want from the product he proposes to deliver. The workforce, coming from a total lie of a premise, has caused the customer base to feel ignored. That is not a winning formula for a business.
In the age of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
Yeah. I think over half have felony records.
He apologized after Hopkins took the day off
