The first female astronaut, Mae Jamison, applied for the space program in 1983, the year this woman graduated from extremely left wing Oberlin College and moved to University of Texas. So from the beginning her chances of being the first black woman astronaut were pretty limited. Her web site and facebook page don't indicate that she got her masters. I can't find any record of her applying to NASA so that part is dodgy from the get-go.
Tyson got his MA in astronomy at UT in 1983 but according to Wikipedia "His professors encouraged him to consider alternate careers and the committee for his doctoral dissertation was dissolved, ending his pursuit of a doctorate from the University of Texas." It doesn't seem as if he was ever on the faculty there. He moved on to the University of Maryland in 1986 but the period 1983-1986 is, to us an astronomical analogy, a black hole.
What we may be seeing here is not actual sexual harassment but another example of the left eating their own.
Sagan was a run-of-the-mill standard issue liberal, and a votary of young pussy - and he got a lot. He was a middling scientist, a brilliant self-promoter, and the greatest science popularizer in history.
Tyson is a very minor epigone.
With the fad as it is now many of the public claims and charges are fraudulent, people looking for celebrity or big paydays. That said leftists do believe they are entitled and actually have a very “sexist” view of at lelast young women. It has a long history. See Lenin’s reference to a community of women which is what he said that equality and free love would produce. By a community of women he meant a reservoir of freely available women for the Communist bosses.
This is true. There are also students who proposition faculty as a means to get a better grade without doing the course work. When the prof declines her offer, she cries rape. How's he supposed to prove a negative?

I’m not saying I’m convinced he did it. I posted this less for “Tyson is a rapist” and more for “the left’s culture of accusing everyone of rape is finally causing them to eat their own.”

It wouldn’t surprise me. Since Tyson became a full-time global-warming shill, there’s a lot of things I wonder about with this guy. I get the strong feeling that, just like Bill Nye, this guy is a much better self-promoter than he ever was a scientist.

I think I am just maintaining a healthy skepticism. From what other posters have adduced, it appears that his accuser’s background is problematic.

I actually liked his stuff 15 years ago when it was just about science. Since he took the money to become a leftist global-warming shill, he’s worthless to me.
I also think it’s dishonest to call this guy a scientist. What has he discovered? What has he published in a peer-reviewed science journal lately? I rest my case.

I see DeGrasse Tyson as an affirmative action Sagan wannabe . He is an empty lab coat who has contributed nothing to actual science other than propagandizing a leftist view of science.
