Day one of emotional testimony for the case of accused deserter Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is over, and the sentencing is expected to continue on Thursday at 9 a.m.
Military Judge Col. Jeffrey Nance had delayed the hearing from Monday to Wednesday when the defense filed a last-minute motion over comments President Donald Trump had made in the past as a candidate, and last week as President. The defense claims Bergdahl would not receive a fair sentencing. The judge said Wednesday he is still considering the defenses motion to dismiss the charges.
Bergdahl faces charges of desertion and endangering fellow soldiers, and misbehavior before the enemy. He could serve a life sentence in prison for the misbehavior charge, and up to five years for the desertion charge.
I would dismiss the officer in charge if he dismisses
The charges against bergdahl and he would be dishonorably cashiered
Begdahl was buddies with the enemy when he left. His facial expressions told the story.
And more interesting, he wouldn't see his parents when he got back. Don't know if he has or hasn't at this point.
But he likes to review it nightly anyway.
We need to bring back hanging , for certain offenses . This is one of them .
If this is dismissed on political grounds, the judge should be hanged.
Too bad we are not still weighing firing squad.
Easy enough to calculate, take the minimum number of years for a manslaughter conviction (10) and then multiply by 8 (guys who died because of his abandonment of his post) ... so 80 years.
Sounds good to me.
But I’d rather see him get same the punish he gave these 8 innocent men who were just doing their job.
Trump wasn't in this pig's chain of command until last January 20 so anything he said before that is of no importance. What he said after January 20 may,or may not,be another matter.
What’s the significance of not seeing his parents?
Disgusting. Whats wrong with this judge?
Firing squad is what’s needed.
Since he entered a guilty plea and refused to withdraw that plea, how could the judge dismiss the charges. It would seem he might mitigate the sentence but not dismiss the charges.
The most important question in this proceeding is:
“Is the judge a Rat/NeverTrumper or isn’t he?”
Certainly seems like a guilty plea, once accepted, makes anything but a sentencing phase moot. I assume the judge banged his gavel and the proceeding ended, on record.
And that includes Bergdahl!
