But on the bright side by staying out of the military, Trump , unlike McCain managed to avoid crashing several jets, didn´t help arm Al Qaeda, didn´t help start ISIS, didn´t sell out American POW-MIAs, didn´t help start five wars and try to start another five or ten wars for no good reason.
How many billions of dollars, directly and indirectly, how many American lives did McCain cost during his military career, and his warmongering idiocies as a Senator afterwards?
Sounds like he got a deferment to me. Draft dodgers ran to Canada.
Some of the claims McCain is peddling in his “only the poor and minorities” fought in Vietnam are demonstrably false, but of course, the Compost can’t be bothered to correct them—or point out his distortions.
- Only 25% of the troops who fought in Vietnam were draftees; the rest were volunteers (the percentage of draftees in WWII was 66%)
- 76% of those who served in Vietnam came from families with incomes above the poverty line
- 70% of the troops who died in combat were white; if you include Hispanics in that figure, the percentage rises to 87%
- Participation by blacks and Hispanics was slightly BELOW their representation in the general population
- 75% of those who served in Vietnam came from working or lower middle class backgrounds; 23% had fathers who were professionals, managers or executives
This data has been available for years. Fact is, most of those who served in Vietnam were volunteers, like McCain. And they served honorably, as McCain did. Can’t say the same about his time after leaving the Hanoi Hilton. He became a serial philanderer while still on active duty, and a number of officers who served with him were amazed that McCain escaped disciplinary charges (guess the ol’ family pedigree helped).
As the Navy’s chief liaison on Capitol Hill, McCain was best known for the open bar that ran out of his office and attracted a large number of legislative lushes each day. About the time he retired from the Navy, Johnny Mac dumped his first wife, Carol, in favor of Cindy, who just happened to be the richest woman in Arizona at the time. McCain dumped the woman who kept his family together during his long years as a POW with little more than his military retirement check, and a quick division of their assets.
It’s one reason Carol McCain was given a job by Ronald Reagan in the White House protocol office. He was both shocked and angered by McCain’s behavior, and even with his retirement check, Carol McCain was far from a wealthy woman. Talk to veterans of the Reagan White House; John McCain was held in very low esteem by the POTUS and most who worked there, and rightfully so.
To here credit, Carol McCain has never bad-mouthed her ex-husband and even vouches for his “character.” She’s a better person that I could ever be under the same circumstances.
My bone spur hurt...a lot...when I went to the doctor who made the diagnosis.Walking was painful.Running was out of the question. There's no way in hell that I would have lasted an hour in BCT if I had had it back then.
I think McLame should stick to what he knows best...giving aid and comfort to the North Vietnamese Communists.Just like his good friends John Friggin Kerry,Hanoi Jane and Bill Ayers.
My uncle missed Vietnam because of flat feet. He showed up ready to be drafted for service in Vietnam but ended up sent back home instead. Not sure if he was happy or sad. Maybe both.
I recall that photo vaguely.Wasn't he bending down...as if to tie his bootlace or something? And wasn't the business end of his personal weapon pointed directly at his forehead?
From the groove yard of forgotten favorites (as El Rushbo might say), a detailing how McCain dumped his wife for the “newer” model:

McCain should have been court martialed for the adultery alone, he was a disgusting womanizing POS.......until he met Cindy and her millions. He probably cheated on her, too, he was just more careful because he likes Cindy’s money.
Yes
I have the image somewhere!
Only reason I ended up voting for him other than a Nobama vote.
For some reason, not of the images came out for me. All I can see is little black boxes with x’s in them.
Wow, DailyMail won’t post the article as of the past 15 minutes since you posted. Was it working when you posted the link?
McCain doesn’t realize NOBODY really likes him or wants him around.
He’s delusional to think he still has a purpose in life.
I just clicked on it and the article was still coming up, photos and all.
McCain has ridden his Vietnam experience all these years. His actions now are nothing lower than dirt. He needs to shut up and go home. I served in Nam also. In the bush. Not on an aircraft carrier, flying missions and going back to that nice warm state room with good food. I stayed soaking wet in the monsoons and dirty beyond belief. I went about 47 days once without a bath. Our platoon came across a small creek deep in the Central Highlands north of An Khe. Our platoon sergeant put one squad on one side and another squad on the other side of the creek pulling security. Then the other two platoons hit the creek for a great bath!!! I remember standing in the creek washing my filthy hair several times, about five or six before dirty water quit running out. I shaved and felt clean for the first time in weeks. It didn’t take us days before we were dirty and sweaty again. McCain suffered terribly. But, now he is in need of shutting up. His time has passed. He needs to go home and seek his medical care and let a younger man take over. But, no, he will hang on till he drops dead in the Senate chambers.
So, you were the doctor and/or the medical board and you know this first-hand. Cool! We hate rich people, don't we? Everything they say is a lie.
Too bad McCain didn’t get a deferment. Many sailors and Marine aviators would have survived ‘Nam if he hadn’t been there.
I heard that McCain was a really lousy Navy pilot and is resposible for some crew deaths on his carrier.
My husband was a white, middle-class, only child, Ivy League graduate whose relative was on the draft board, so he could have gotten out if he wanted to. But he served.
