President Trump said Saturday morning he will allow the release of the classified files related to former President John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963.
"Subject to the receipt of further information, I will be allowing, as President, the long blocked and classified JFK FILES to be opened," Trump tweeted.
Trump's announcement counters a report that predicted the president was likely going to block the release of some of the documents by the National Archives, which citing pressure from the CIA over possibly harmful national security information being revealed.
Still, White House spokesperson Lindsay Walters told Politico Magazine that the Trump administratioin was trying "to ensure that the maximum amount of data can be released to the public.
The deadline for the National Archives to release the 3,100 documents, primarily from the CIA and FBI, is Oct. 26. The date was established by the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, which was signed into law by former President George H.W. Bush in an attempt to minimize conspiracy theories about Kennedy's death.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., led a group of bipartisan lawmakers urging Trump earlier this month to allow full access to the classified documents.
"Transparency in government is critical not only to ensuring accountability; it's also essential to understanding our nation's history," Grassley said in a statement. "The assassination of President Kennedy occurred at a pivotal time for our nation, and nearly 54 years later, we are still learning the details of how our government responded and what it may have known beforehand. Americans deserve a full picture of what happened that fateful day in November 1963. Shining a light on never-before-seen government records is essential to filling in these blank spaces in our history."
How about completing every inch of the wall before your heart for the dreamers amnesty instead.

Lucky for us we have your noteworthy acumen. I don’t know how that escaped the rest of us. How could both happen simultaneously? Certainly everything must stop until nincomboots has his wish.
I have very little confidence that what we see will be the real thing. The fact that this stuff has been kept from the public for over half a century tells me it’s got some bombshells in it that certain people don’t want known. If it has no bombshells, then it isn’t real.
My top theory: LBJ was behind it. Maybe not the instigator, but definitely in favor of it.

Right, it’s our own American citizens, not the Cuban Russian commies, that are the bad guys. The leftists have been pushing the same narrative since the 60s.
This is a shot across the Bush’s bow. They’ve started to get vocal in their opposition to Trump. You can bet Trump knows what’s in the docs and it does not put senior Bush in a good light. As another poster noted Bush Jr. signed the law blocking the docs until now, likely thinking dad would be dead by now and nothing would be released. Just a guess. Every card Trump has played so far on matters like this (notwithstanding the obstructionism from establishment Republicans on health care and the wall and immigration), he has come out with a winning hand. Perhaps McCain will fade away soon too (not literally, but that seems inevitable) with the promise of a state funeral and a preserved legacy. You can bet Trump has dirt on him too.

The bigger concern should be who coordinated and allowed it to happen (CIA- SS) and who covered it up (FBI + LBJ.)

Fake news. There was no stated reason why Trump wouldn’t authorize the JFK files released. The Left was trying to create a “fake scandal” by claiming that Trump wasn’t going to release the documents.
This is how the anti-Trump, often Marxist media and organizations work. Create a “fake news story” and then feed upon it for raising funds and attacking the President.
It would be nice to know who “those” people are who said that the President WASN’T going to let the JFK documents be released. Might find some of the old familiar hardcore Leftists amongst them
