THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS
12:30
This was their last gasp, and the song peaked at #20 on the charts. Its one of Johns best compositions and deserved better.
The Mamas & the Papas: 12:30
The band got back together for a disastrous album in 1971. It was not only a financial failure, but an artistic failure.
Cass died of a heart attack in 1974 at age 32. Her final two albums did not do well, but her gig at Londons Palladium was a smashing success. She may have been on the verge of greatness.
John had a country hit and wrote a few movie scores, but his heroin habit held him back. He died of a heart attack at age 65 in 2001.
Denny went back to Canada and worked on the stage and television. He died in 2007 at age 66 of an aortic aneurism.
Michelle became an actress in movies and television, and is the last surviving member.
Sic transit gloria.

It’s a cautionary tale. But they came together, made history and great music — and then departed.

I did t co e close to a bullseye with the one bullet I managed to fire. I pinched my finger when working with one gun and my rifle got stuck and I couldnt use it. But I sure enjoyed the company and the great fun freepers have when together. :)
See you tomorrow at some point back in Ft Worth. Then home on Monday.

Just wondering if you’ve heard Dimash yet. He’s taken Asia and Europe by storm...unbelievable vocals and range at 5 0r 6 octives....transferance is astounding.... just 23 yrs. He’s from Kazakhstan. Here’s his first live performance at a professional singers contest in China....broadcasted throughout the world now...he’s all over the net.
Enjoy....be ready to be more than impressed...

Professionals are all chiming in on this guy..from rock stars to opera...he’s the hottest ticket out there. Leaves everyone in the Wow mode and speechless......every song he did in that contest floored people...they’re all different...
If you’re familiar with “Adagio” It’s the absolute best I’ve ever heard it performed.....stunning!

Yes indeed.....Interesting is he was the “guest” competitor among all these professional singers all well know. He was the dark horse in the race and for this had to go first, which nobody wants to do. Imagine after you heard SOS, his first song, having to follow that guy in competition! I've been following him now for a couple weeks.....the President of his country had a huge concert with him as the star when he returned to his country awhile back...he's already been to Paris and other European countries.... The guy's quite humble as well....smart too...stands 6 ft.4 on top of it so no surprise with his voice range and platter of song he's capable of that he's such a hit. You said it well saying he's Asia's Elvis.....but his voice is just astounding. The US has tried to get him here but so far been unsuccessful. However one of Hollywoods top composers has just completed his first album which will be out soon. It's been fun watching how he's transitioned from a total unknown to star status.....almost overnight in China.

It’s fun to watch them and being able to say “I knew him when.....”. Hope he can get a gig here in the States. Who knows, maybe you’ll get to see him in person!

It has been said he’ll be coming here for studies in order to be “Master” in the art. That remains to be seen but he had no interest in competing in any of the US shows for singing as he felt Asia was more competitive for him.
I wouldn’t be interested in seeing him in person or even attending a performance here. But he’s been an interesting character to check out. Raised by his Grandmother and Grandfather in the ‘old traditions’ of his country. Like so many muslims they are socially handicapped when it comes to how they behave outside of what’s familiar to them, his father travels with him which he seems to be dependent on.
As much as he sings well...and onstage performs well...he’s very shy and almost childlike off stage.
