CA produces 11% of the nations agricultural products by $ receipts

Does this include the tail end of the most recent drought? All of those orchards that were destroyed due to irrigation being cut off will take awhile to get back into production. Also the state is talking about removing dams. Without dams, reservoirs, and irrigation California reverts to desert and becomes the Oklahoma dust bowl version 2.0

California’s fraction of agricultural production isn’t what I find impressive, it is the variety. The Midwest produces a lot of food by volume, but that agriculture is largely in a handful of products: corn, wheat, soy beans. What California gives us is variety: grapes, almonds, pistachios, walnuts, avocados, strawberries, lettuce, tomatoes,... It goes on and on. Most of the domestic fruit produced comes from Cali.

“Yes, because conservatives living in California are worthless and deserving of cataclysmic death, just as you were worthless and deserving of death while Obama was in office. What part of “those in office don’t represent me or my values” didn’t you learn through the 8 hellish years of Obama?

thanks for posting that rebuttal. There are lots of good people in California. In fact, I know a few of them.
This “damn them all” attitude is more typical of liberals, and any Freeper should be ready to call it out as nonsense”

I know there are a lot of wonderful people in California. I just wish they were the majority of those moving to other states. I spent time in CA in 1970 and again in 1993. Loved it and the people. God what happened to it? If democrats had their way the whole country would be like that.

That figure was published May 2016.

The useful idiots are succeeding in destroying CA.

California is the greatest state in the nation still in spite of the liberal politics!

I was born in Texas and lived there about 30 years of my life. I also lived in North Carolina 2 years while I was in the Army. I have also spent about 38 years of my life in California. I am a stone conservative and I love California!

There are more conservatives here than any other state in the nation. There are counties here that vote Republican that are more populated than some states. California has more beautiful natural wonders than any state in the nation except Alaska. We have better ocean beaches than any other state in the nation. We have beautiful mountains and deserts too. Southern California has better weather than any other part of the country.

California has the best property tax system compared to almost any other state in the nation. How many of you Texans or Nebraskans pay only 1.025% property tax like I do? The answer is none… Because of Proposition 13 California the property taxes can only be raised 2% a year!

In California the property appreciates faster than almost anywhere else in the nation. I know a smart man that bought a house near the ocean in 1961 for 29K. He still lives there and now it is worth 1.5 million! And, the property taxes on that house are still based on the original 29K price plus a 2% per year increase! What other state does that? The answer is none…

High housing prices make old folks happy, but it destroys younger folks. Without children what’s the point?

You don’t have a right to live by the ocean young man. Or, even live 20 miles inland where the weather is still great.

There are plenty of homes on land in the Inland Empire where you can buy a home like I did and watch it double in value with low taxes! Move 100 miles from the coast and you can still live the American dream in California. Nine month of the year the weather is still better than almost anywhere else in the nation!

How well I remember the horror stories about smog checks when we lived in CA - and the wretched cost. Our cars were never failed but so many others were. Never could figure out how the illegals passed with their junkers but probably like all else involving them, they just didn’t bother getting current tags for their cars. Here in GA we pay $25 for the smog check - no fuss, no muss....What a difference.

I was living in California when Prop 13 was passed. Without Prop 13 they wouldn’t have had the explosion of population growth the state has experienced since the 70’s.

You only talk about property tax. What if you didn’t buy your home in 1961 but in 2011? What about the cost housing? I have a brother living in Lake Forest in 5 bedroom home in an ungated community, and if he put that home on the market today it would sell for more than $1,000,000. Do you know what you can get for a million dollars here in Georgia? I have another brother living in Anaheim Hills and his 3 bedroom condo is valued over $400,000. For $400k you can be living in a gated golfing community in Georgia.

Also California is still bankrupt, despite what a 13% sales tax? That’s double what we pay here in Georgia. How much in taxes do you to fuel up your car, and how much do you drive everyday. How much does it cost for you to air condition or heat your home? How much does it cost to water your landscape?

My siblings still living in Southern California, so-called conservative Orange County, don’t even bother voting because their vote doesn’t matter with all the liberals.

California was great in the 60’s and 70’s but after that it’s been in a steep decline to hell.
