~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma Tinker Air Force Base is a major United States Air Force base, with tenant U.S. Navy and other Department of Defense missions, located geographically in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The base, originally known as Midwest Air Depot, is named in honor of Oklahoma native Major General Clarence L. Tinker, the first Native American Major General.
Tinker is the headquarters of the Air Force Materiel Command's (AFMC) Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center (OC-ALC), which is the worldwide manager for a wide range of aircraft, engines, missiles, software and avionics and accessories components. The host unit at Tinker is the 72d Air Base Wing (72 ABW) which provides services and support for the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center and its tenant organizations. The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex is the largest air logistics center in the Air Force Materiel Command. It provides depot maintenance, product support, services and supply chain management, and information support for 31 weapon systems, 10 commands, 93 Air Force bases and 46 foreign nations. It is the contracting office for the Air Force's Contract Field Teams program. From the initial planned site of 960 acres in March 1941, Tinker's physical plant has become by standards a "mega-facility." Today, the base is made up of 5,500 acres with 460 buildings containing 19M+square feet of floor space, including 136 acres of indoor maintenance area and 2,254 acres of ramp space, all supported by the 72nd Air Base Wing. The base is comparable to a city. The 72nd ABW provides essential support services for nearly 27,000 civilian and military assigned to the base and approximately 2,394 contractors, 18,000 dependents and more than 36,000 military retiree's and their family members in a six-county area. The wing provides critical base functions including: security, fire protection, medical services, civil engineering, communications and supply, transportation and air field operations. The base also offers a variety of recreational and leisure activities including the Tinker Club, 18-hole golf course, picnic grounds, library, movie theater, swimming pool, fitness centers and a bowling alley. Sounds like you had a nice evening. Yep, always nice reminiscing with old friends.
Dang, y’all had NICE weather up there today. It wasn’t nice at all here though it was sunny. The wind had a real bite to it.
Churchill goes to the vet for his blood test tomorrow afternoon and I hope the results are good. He still isn’t eating very well but that could be due to the sniffles. They won’t eat much when they can’t smell.
But he felt good enough to bug me to go outside, thinking it was nice since the sun was shining. Boy, did I get dirty looks when I took him out! LOL! We didn’t stay out long.

Yikes, y’all got way colder than we did. it’s mid-50s right now. And warming up again tomorrow. This coming Saturday it’s supposed to be 88 again. Now, THAT’S just wrong!
I’ll be gone this coming weekend. Shoot weekend in central Texas. I’m soooo looking forward to it, except for my Big Brother John [NY Texan] not being there. We always went together. He was a good, sweet man. My hubby thinks so, too, in case anyone’s wondering. LOL!

Good report today. Moving slower than I would like but the Seabees like my mixer.
I was the only one to give them what they wanted.
Just have to make changes for final approval.

We’ll warm back up into the mid 70s by the weekend and that’s fabulous weather. It really wouldn’t have seemed too bad today if not for that dratted wind.
So the Shoot is this weekend, is it? I know everyone’s looking forward to it.
Word is we’re going to Tupelo Sat. to bring back more neat items for the museum on the mountain. It’s gonna HURT getting up at 4:30 a.m. though. That’s when I’m usually getting ready to go to bed. LOL

Good thing you don’t like to go for the 50s in threads you post. LOL!
Monday night is space night on the Science Channel and I got caught up in a show about Jupiter and some of its moons.

The boss is in town for the week. She took us to lunch. She lives in Florida and works by computer and Skye. It works well. She moved to Florida to be with family as her Mom is headed down the Alzheimer’s road.
We have to go to 2 4 hour training sessions, 8-noon on Wednesday and Thursday, then and all day statewide payroll conference on Friday (boring, but mandatory).
Friday’s music thread will be posted late as soon as I can get away.

Glad you gave us a heads-up on the lateness of the thread. Sorry I won’t be in town or I could post it earlier for you. :(
I’ll peek in at some point if I have decent wifi or cell service and try to post something in a table. Got one handy! LOL!
“Enjoy” the meetings. Ugh! Hope you don’t doze off during the looooong, boring parts! I’ve done webinars and they are the pits. She should have had everyone go to FL. It’s nice this time of year!

It WAS interesting. The images they get from the different spacecraft that are sent out to explore the different planets are what make those shows so cool. They’re stunning.
