Salena Zito: Trump’s Base Will Stick with Him Unless He Becomes Part of the Swamp
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | October 11, 2017 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 10/11/2017 2:06:05 PM PDT by Kaslin

RUSH: Salena Zito, one of the first in the media to correctly identify the strengths of Donald Trump via his voters and why they think and support Trump the way they do. She’s on CNN. She’s got a contract there. She’s an analyst, a commentator, shows up now and then.

She was on This Morning with Poppy Harlow. They’re talking about Trump’s rhetoric and how much damage, Bob Corker and the IQ test with Tillerson and all that. And Poppy Harlow said this to Salena: “Salena, we’ve seen friends of Trump try to communicate to him through the media. You know about the president’s base. You spent a lot of time reporting on ’em. Do you think Barrack is right when he says that Trump does not have a base? And if he’s not, does the base support Trump in spite of or because of his language and his tweets?”

ZITO: I think they support him in spite and because of the comments. As far as his base going anywhere, he does have an unnatural base in that it’s in a really interesting alignment of different kinds of people, a lot of people, as you know, we missed during the election. But I haven’t seen any evidence of them going anywhere yet, but that doesn’t mean they won’t. I think if he becomes part of the swamp, that’s gonna become his biggest problem.

RUSH: Bingo. It’s only Trump that can drive his audience away, and the fastest way he could would be to become part of the swamp. But note the question here. The Barrack she’s talking about is Tom Barrack, presidential inaugural committee chairman, not Barack Obama. “Do you think that Barrack is right when he says that Trump doesn’t have a base, and if he’s not right, do they support him in spite of or because of his language –” these people at CNN haven’t the slightest.

It still doesn’t make sense to them that Trump has any supporters. Trump is so embarrassing to them, Trump is so pathetic to them, they can’t understand anybody liking Trump. And they are journalists. They’re supposed to be curious and all-knowing, and they’ve got closed minds. And rather than find out what they don’t know, they ridicule what people think that doesn’t make sense to them.

As long as he continues to stick with the citizens and the rule of law he will be fine.

The ones siding with illegal aliens and their employers need to be replaced.

Trump will be gone when there is someone better to replace him with.

Until then, settle in for the full eight years.

Talking about it every ten minutes is tantamount to sitting in the back seat and asking, “Are we there yet?”

NO! And shut the hell up!

Trump has proven himself to be the only one we can trust.

He has tapped into the inner psyche of the Republic in a way no man has since Washington.

He gets the American spirit, understands the hopes, dreams and fears of ordinary citizens. He understands the soul of this nation.

Trump is the living embodiment of the American Revolution.

And the reason is not because we are diehard ideologues or automations who are under his spell, but because despite the occasional deviation or choice that we might disagree with, on balance Trump represents the best chance we have of returning the nation to the rule of law, breaking the stranglehold of crony capitalists, labor unions, and entrenched deep state political operatives and politicians, and because he is able to stand up to the media and it’s enablers like no one we have ever seen before.

That’s why when some talking head with minimal knowledge pronounces doom and gloom (like Roger Stone did today about the new DHS pick), the vast majority of us simply ignore them. We don’t necessarily always agree with or support Trump but we trust his judgement much more than the opinions of these nitpickers.

Trump is, by his very nature, an iconoclast. He couldn't become part of the swamp even if he wanted to.

Don't waste time worrying about Trump becoming a swamp creature.

Ain't gonna happen.

It just kills them that Trump's supporters are so steadfast.

The most irritating thing to me was Ryan popping up election night saying, “What a wonderful night! We won!”.

Excuse me. We voted YOU and all of the elites OUT. You did not win. There was a list of RINOs that ran against Trump, and watching their stunned and furious faces as they were told by the voters in no uncertain terms we were DONE with them was great.

They have refused to accept this - they have just joined ranks and as I predicted, would rather side with Democrats rather than accept the will of their party. So we need to stomp on them a little harder to make this CLEAR. The republicans need REFORM. Grassroots reform.

Wall Street Establishment Elitism with people like the Bushes, McCain, Kucinich, Graham, and others of that ilk need to get the message. If your idea of govt is RUNNING peoples lives and forming more bureaucracy, staying in govt forever and establishing more and more control over their lives, you are a Democrat and we DONT need your smirking face.

I agree.

I consider the primary season next year to be the most important in our nation’s history.

Every primary season is important. It is just that political dumb butts are just now realizing that the real power is in the primaries if you want to change government.

The Media, like Hollywood and the NFL, have shown themselves to be drooling morons. These mouth-breathers REALLY think that before Trump came along they had reputations as honest purveyors of the news?!?

Exactly. That’s why the one thing I gripe about here is the staff decisions. There are people on his staff who would fit in better in a Jeb! administration and who think the key to Trump’s success is to moderate him. No, he was elected on a winning platform because he wasn’t establishment. When his staff is leaking, contradicting him publicly, or are trying to push him away from what he ran on, that’s not draining the swamp. We’ve seen so many pro-Trump people forced out and looking in, and I think it would be easier to drain the swamp without some of the swamp in the White House.

LoL! My thoughts exactly. We have an unprecedented president taking on an unprecedented task - results of any sort cannot be expected in a matter of weeks or even in a handful of months. Each passing day yet another layer of decay & rot is exposed, adding to the already massive "to do" list. The incessant pearl clutching is not constructive.

I find this a very interesting statement. An "unnatural base"??? ... an alignment of different people "WE" missed during the election."

Seen her a few times on CNN, she definitely seems to be the only analyst I have seen that seems to have a clue about Trump’s supporters and she usually is dismissed by the left wing bone smoking pillow biters that pass for the rest of their analysts.
