FULL TITLE: ‘Frankly disgusting’: Trump lashes out at press, threatens NBC over news report he calls ‘pure fiction’
President Trump on Wednesday threatened NBC over a news report he called "pure fiction," and he lashed out at the news media, declaring that it is "frankly disgusting the press is able to write whatever it wants to write."
“People should look into it.... The press should speak more honestly," Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. "I’ve seen tremendously dishonest press. It’s not even a question of distortion.”
The president was reacting to a report that he pushed senior aides for a major expansion of the U.S. nuclear arsenal. Earlier in the day, Trump on Twitter dismissed that report as “pure fiction” and raised the possibility that he would support stripping the broadcast licenses of news networks that report what he believes to be inaccurate information.
"I know the capability that we have; believe me, and it is awesome, it is massive, and when they make up stories like that that’s just made up," Trump said in the Oval. “They have their sources that don’t exist; in my opinion they don’t exist. They make up the sources.”

Meanwhile, child NBC with a twisted smile sits in the corner watching the adults argue over it.
I make the claim that they should be treated equally.
And I make the claim that the Left supports one and not the other.
And I again say that I support treating them equally — which means Freedom of the Press ought to suffer until such time as the Press decides to treat the First and Second Amendments equally.
The first and the second should be pretty much absolute. Lim it the second at genuine WMD’s (anything specifically designed to kill more than one person at a time) and the first *ONLY at *proven* libel and slander. I do *NOT* like the idea of ANY regulation of ANY in formation source. Some of the people here should remember that just as with the ‘patriot’ act, then precedent set by a conservative may damned well be turned around and used against them. Don ‘t give Trump any more power than you want the next Democrat president to have, in any way, shape or form.
Better libel, slander and leaked confidential information every day than one single sentence of actual truth prevented once.
Sorry. I’ve got to disagree with any threats to strip licenses from broadcasters. For one it is not a precedent I want to see. For another it makes them martyrs and more people will see Pres Trump as an ego mad despot.
I don’t even have cable anymore, so I took the opportunity to flip channels while out of town on business The last couple of days. CNN was doing another smear job on Trump, comparing his “locker room” braggadocio comments with Weinstein’s actual offences against women. There is no depth to which CNN will not sink.
These hyperventilating twits have forgotten the Democrat “Fairness Doctrine” they used to silence conservatives before Reagan got rid of it.
These guys will say anything.
TV networks don’t have FCC licenses as they aren’t the ones broadcasting. Those belong to individual affiliate stations.
