SACRAMENTO — California has permanently scrapped its high school exit exam under legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday.
The California High School Exit Examination was a requirement to receive a diploma in the state, but the legislature voted in 2015 to drop it for the high school classes of 2015 to 2018. Diplomas were retroactively awarded to anyone who met all other graduation requirements after the test became a mandatory must-pass exam in 2004.
That resulted in an estimated 40,000 former high school students receiving their diplomas. The bill signed by Brown, AB830 by Ash Kalra, D-San Jose, permanently eliminates the test.

If test after test, exam after exam, consistently shows the same result: Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, all on top; ordinary whitebread Whitey second, Hispanic third, Blacks last, then it’s time to pay attention to what the tests are showing!
Eliminating the tests is admitting to what I just said, and trying to hide it.
These tests probably conflict with common core.

This was done because one of the “qualifications” to be a “dreamer” was to have a high school diploma. That’s why it was retroactive as well. Not enough of the illegals could be bothered to pass the exam so it was eliminated.
CA is pulling out all the stops to make themselves the home of criminals and the land of the stupid.
Not even MacDonald’s would be hiring them.
And that makes high school diplomas from California totally worthless as an accomplishment. That’s liberals for you.

From the article, the test was ditched because is consisted of “rote learning” principles rather than common core “critical thinking”. This is what I’m currently going through with my 5th grader. His progress is measured by traditional english and math tests, while the classwork is a 60/40 combination of common core/traditional. Drives me nuts.
We switched schools this year to a higher rated one and I was shocked when he was given an actual math book. He has been learning from a salad of internet worksheets since 1st grade.
I’d agree that a single test shouldn’t determine pass or fail. An aggregate score of the tests over the school year should at least weigh heavily.
