58 “concert goers” 59 people, if you count the gunman as a person and you believe he killed himself.
There is no confusion on that number. Have additional people that were critically wounded died or yet to die, we don’t know.
The number of wounded is an approximation. WHY IS THAT? They don’t know by now exactly how many people were SHOT?
Thanks. To clarify, I read here, that several floors (one of which is 32?) of the Mandalay are an independently run, “all-inclusive” resort with its own elevators and services.

58 people were apparently murdered in Las Vegas last week by someone. I am not ready yet to say that Paddock did it, though evidence seems to point that way. Approximately 500 people were injured in the incident, less than 150 of which were from gunshot wounds, with the remainder being people who were either trampled or who fell during the panic to get away from the target area.
It would be nice if people would actually stick with the facts that we know, so that we can sort out the rest of what we don’t know yet.

Really? What room is this ‘separate room that was comped’ and where was it located relative to the rooms which were used during the shooting? I hadn’t heard that before… earlier information was that he checked into the suite (32135) on the 25th and then picked up the room next door (32134) on the 28th using his girlfriend’s identity. There were other reports that 32134 was where the Aussie Hodge was but that must have been a mistake as far as the room number goes.

Some have said it looks like a Taurus "Judge", which has a 2.5" long cylinder that can hold .45 Colt rounds or 2.5" shotgun shells -- or a mix of the two.
My guess is that he shot himself in the mouth with a .45 Colt round. A .410 shotshell would have left relatively little intact brain tissue to autopsy...
The claim that there was an examinable brain left suggests that he directed the muzzle straight back -- which would have disconnected his Medulla oblongata, shutting his body down instantly. With an upward, (roof of mouth) shot, the brain would have been pretty badly disrupted -- even with the .45 Colt slug...

The media coverage on this is truly bizarre. Here you have the “Muzzi” ISIS claiming involvement showing up everywhere in the UK press but gets buried here in the US..Wether or not a connection to Paddock can be made that claim gives us an opportunity to examine their justifications to commit atrocities.
Why wont they ? Perhaps it’s because according to their codex known as Sharia the actions taken by Paddock has been sanctioned by Almighty God.
Because most political perverts don’t believe in such a thing as God they can’t concieve of followers of Islam believing in what they are doing is actually serving God. It must be something else. So the democrat perverts running the media avoid bringing that up and blame guns.
Paddock's proficiency (sustained, regular rate of fire) with the BumpFire stock-equipped rifles indicates that he probably took them out into the desert to practice and become proficient with them. That would have made him very familiar with the heating problem.
It appears that he switched rifles, rather than magazines, after each long (~100-round) firing sequence. (Hence the presence of numerous rifles...)
That is also consistent with the unusually long time spans between shot strings. (With minimal practice, magazine changes take a matter of a very few seconds...)
OH -- and the guard apparently wasn't stupid enough to stand in the middle of the hallway throughout a hail of 200 rounds. IOW, he was quick about seeking refuge in his "alcove". In fact, it is possible that the one GSW occurred because his leg wasn't properly "tucked in" behind cover...
what forensic proof? do you have access to the investigators notes?
There are many problems that law enforcement as a whole is facing in this case
Chief among them is that people - normal people from everyday life - now have access to all the fancy software and computers that used to be only available to those who had money.
And more and more people are not only educated about these matters, they are able to communicate instantaneously around the world.
And finally, nearly everyone has a video and audio recording device on their person - or close by - 24/7/365. So incidents like this one are more often than not recorded by many different people from many different locations and vantage points.
It isn’t difficult for an independent person - or lab - to choose one of these videos and perform a forensic audio analysis on small portions of the recording (to minimize any chance of operator movement), use the video to find an approximate location for the recording device using Google Maps, and then analyze the audio and come up with actual physical evidence that there either was or wasn’t more than one shooter.
It’s simple physics and geometry - and the software to pull out and listen to the audio at whatever speed you need is not only cheap, but my mom could probably figure out how to work it. She may not know how to calculate the time/speed/distance or know what sound is what - but she could work the software and I could step her through the rest...
So the bottom line is that for many aspects of any “investigation” some members of the public no longer need to wait for those in authority to tell them what happened - they can begin to piece it together themselves.
Shorter answer to your question: The analysis didn’t have to be done by the “official” investigators therefore access to their information isn’t necessary.
Perhaps as a Democrat, you may wish to discuss word parsing with a victim of the multiple machine gun pre-meditated massacre. And bring your Democrat friends along to tell the massacred that

But one of the cops who rushed the room said on 60 minutes he looked at the body and saw no obvious head wound. He said he did see blood coming out of his mouth.
It is not “word-parsing” to state that 500 people were NOT murdered by this sick bastard - truth is truth, and our cause is NOT served by making such an obvious misrepresentation (even if it was an innocent error).

However, in either of those cases, there would have been massive brain tissue disruption -- enough that I can't imagine any competent pathologist stating categorically that there was no brain abnormality.

Just because someone in authority doesn’t do it, or doesn’t say it, doesn’t change the physics of sound or ballistics.
Lots of “authorities” claim that human activities are having a disastrous effect on the planet’s climate. Their position doesn’t make them right. And the scientific evidence is against them - for those who can understand it.
This is why I tried to drill into my kid’s heads how important it was to know as much about the hard sciences as they could - so no one in authority could pull the wool over their eyes due to their ignorance.
