LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police confirm that a Texas Tech police officer has been shot and killed at Texas Tech Police Headquarters.
It happened around 7:45 p.m. on Monday night at the Texas Tech Police building at 413 Flint Avenue. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old freshman Hollis A. Daniels, was taken into custody at 9:28 p.m. according to officials with the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office. He was located near Jones AT&T Stadium.
Officials with Texas Tech University say since the Daniels was taken into custody, the lockdowns at Texas Tech University and University Medical Center have been lifted. Officials say people need to avoid the Texas Tech Police Department and the north side of campus.
Texas Tech officials tell us they did a welfare check on a student, found drugs and drug paraphernalia in his room and brought him in, once at the PD building, the student pulled a gun and shot the officer in the head, killing him. Then the student fled on foot.

Update - “Sources say Daniels’ ripped off the officer’s body camera after the shooting, but the camera was found around 10:30 p.m.”
As cops were searching cars, a gun was found. It didn’t say if it was the gun used or a random one.
Gov. Abbott issued a statement of sympathy for the officer and sent DPS to assist (aka take over).

That’s good news. Things like trying to destroy and hide the evidence shows an awareness that he knew right from wrong. No insanity defense. That’s gonna help this POS get the needle.

When I was a freshman in a dorm at the University of Kentucky, the son of the mayor of Louisville was also there. He showed porn movies in the dorm and got caught once he started charging admission. He had a trunk full of porn photos in his car. I dont know what happened to him. This was in 1967.
I went to college with Jimmy Carter’s nephew. He went to visit his uncle but got stoned on the way to the WH. Going to the WH high is sometimes referred to as “doing a Willie Nelson”.
