Burning to the ground: Raging Wildfires Leave one Dead and Force 20,000 Residents to [Trunc]

More than 300 firefighters are working to control the raging wildfires burning through northern California's Wine Country that have left at least one dead.

Wind-fueled wildfires broke out late Sunday night into early Monday morning destroying more than 1,500 homes and businesses and forcing 20,000 people to evacuate.

Fourteen fast-moving fires continue to burn through eight counties-Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Yuba, Nevada, Calaveras and Butte.

The fires have destroyed 57,000 acres total leaving 50,000 people without power.

Governor of California Jerry Brown has issued a state of emergency for Napa, Sonoma and Yuba Counties as fires blaze through the Wine Country.

Because of strong winds and hot, dry weather, it appears the flames will continue for some time.

Napa County Fire Chief Barry Biermann said, 'As of right now, with these conditions, we can't get in front of this fire and do anything about the forward progress.'

Mandatory evacuations were ordered across four counties including Sonoma and Napa County late Sunday as winds buffeted the area.

Windsor Fire Chief Jack Piccinini said that nearly every one of Sonoma County's fire resources is being used, but it just isn't enough.

This is tragic, and these two, the Atlas and the Tubbs fires are moving extremely fast. Santa Rosa is on fire, and north outskirts of Napa are on fire

God’s wrath on the most sinful state in the nation. I grieve for innocent people, animals and the produce that will be destroyed.

Has anyone heard any further details regarding what may have initiated these fires? Seems pretty implausible that so many over such a wide area just suddenly erupted on their own. Absent any further information, it certainly sounds like it could be arson/terrorism.

Not necessarily Gods wrath. Sometimes arson or accident ignite fires

I didn’t pay any attention to local news over the weekend, so I don’t know whether these fires just popped up suddenly overnight or have been burning and spreading for several days. The article doesn’t say anything about the cause, at least nothing I saw... Is it arsonists? There hasn’t been any lightning around here.

In Sedona AZ 18 fires were set. Wasn’t there supposed to be Columbus Day protest thing by the Antifa a-holes?

.
There is neither lumber, nor produce in the path of these fires.

Oaks, manzanita, chamese, bay mostly.

Chamise kills lots of firefighters because it grabs their turn-outs and they can’t move very fast.

Lots of millionaires in the path of these fires. We’re really going to be hearing about it.

THere was a very high wind (60 mph) last night, the equivalent of the SoCal Santa Ana wind. I don’t know where the first fire started - somewhere in the Napa Valley near the ridge I believe - or how, but it could simply have been somebody throwing away a cigarette or lighting a BBQ. And then the wind and the heat took it from there.

My son lives in Santa Rosa and he sent me a picture of the “ash” - which was actually 2” long burning chunks of charcoal sent in every direction by the wind. So I think it was pretty inevitable, especially with all the dried out left-over plant growth from a rainy summer.

Anyone, hazarding a guess, on how and who, started this conflagration?

Headed to the store to get a case of the wife’s favorite California wine. Some is made in Napa Valley but they also make it Lodi. It will be available but the price will probably go sky high.

Will the ecological idiots ever learn it is better to harvest off and area or pasture it with goats and sheep than to let it grow up and burn?

Ah, OK. Sounds like it definitely could have just been accidental then.

If it had been started by a white conservative, we’d already know.

All I know: it wasn’t terrorism!!!! Heavens no!!
