NAPA (CBS SF) Wind-whipped wildfires roared to life Sunday night and early Monday across Wine Country, burning building, forcing evacuations and injuring several people.
The Atlas Peak fire was the largest of several wildfires, quickly growing to more than 200 acres near Napa. Meanwhile, the fire near Calistoga had burned several building and sent several people to the hospital to be treated for burns.
Cal Fire said firefighters were battling several blazes in Sonoma County. The largest was in the area of Porter Creek Road and Petrified Forest Road near Calistoga where mandatory evacuations were ordered for residents along Porter Creek, Petrified Forest, Franz Valley and Mountain Home Ranch Rd.
Early Monday morning, the Sonoma County Sheriffs Department said fires had erupted at Mark West Springs and Riebli roads in Santa Rosa, at Shiloh and Conde roads in Windsor and at Highway 116 and Fredericks Road in Sebastopol.
The fires had stretched Sonoma and Napa counties firefighting resources to the breaking point. A call for mutual aid was issued to other Bay Area fire departments.

Yeah, that’s what I clicked, “watch live”. Nothing loaded on my system.
Nobody is cheering on the fires in California. But I’m not wringing my hands in hysteria either. I live in Arizona, we have wild fires all the time. No one outside of AZ seems to care about our fires, but we’re used to that.
Reports that several vineyards have burned.
Sad...some great wines coming from Sonoma :(
Have a friend who worked at a vineyard in another area—we did a tour with them and we got to sample for free at many different wineries...It was one of the most enjoyable trips I ever had...
65,000 acres burning in the North Bay area.
My cousin in Santa Rosa was awakened early this AM with pounding on the door.
Immediate evac, with just enough time to grab a shirt and get their shoes on.
Fire on both sides of the road on the way out.
And that was less than 20mins after the first knock.
He is certain he lost his home and everything in it. He also has a business in town (curios and hippy art etc.) which he is hoping to save.
Sorry about your cousin...Can’t imagine going thru that!
Please keep us updated...Very dangerous situation for a while, hope everyone has actually left...Bad fire!!!
Blah blah blah, save your sanctimonious scolding for someone else. You lost me after your first sentence.
Any ideas yet how they started?
Seems very suspicious how they all popped up at once.
Have lived and traveled there; hoping fires are controlled as soon as possible .
I wish I could help out
I am always concerned about terrorism with these kinds of fires...
I tried to find a map of where the current fires are, but the ones I found were not very detailed: Does anyone have a link to a map of fires in the Napa area?
Thanks, Freedom. Yes, CA has lots of good conservatives, even here in the Bay Area. I despise, absolutely despise, vile, uncaring, unsympathetic people like RooRoobird20. They should be evicted from FR.
For a while, it looked like NorCal was going to escape major fires, but they sure erupted the last couple of days. I was in Oregon for the eclipse in August and they were getting consumed by fire. Then we visited our daughter in Colorado a couple weeks later and the western fire smoke there was unbelievable. We went to Northern Idaho right after Colorado and the smoke on the panhandle was the worst it’s ever been. Every fire represents untold loss of property and, sometimes, life itself. Every fire anywhere in the US is a cause for heartache, sympathy and condolences no matter who the victims are.
Prayers to you. Some jerks on this site rejoice at the misfortune of others who dont live in their preferred geographic area of the country. Miserable people.
That’s it! I’m heading to Walmart after work - before they jack up the wine prices. $15 for a bottle of CabSav will seem like a steal by next week.
Hate their government, not their people.
Even in Cally, their are good people suffering today.
Wine country? Guess it’s Ripple for Thanksgiving this year.

This is more than a typical wild fire—which Cali has too...
If you wish to post about an AZ fire and devastating losses, do so...I think people here would be concerned if businesses and 1500 homes and 65,000 acres were consumed...they should care even tho jerks McCain and Flake are from there...
However, to basically say tit-for=tat...no one cares about me and AZ fires so I don’t care anyone else and their fire problems is, well, just very sad IMHO.
And again very telling...and I hope you can get over your seeming bitterness.
Yeah...Sonoma is known for great wines :(
I don’t know much about vineyards, but I imagine it takes a while to get vines established to produce grapes for wine :(

Anyone?
You’ve taught me all I need to know about you.....take your attitude somewhere else.
