PC Triumphs! Cam Newton Apologizes

RUSH: Cam Newton has apologized for the disrespectful comment to the infobabe at the Charlotte Observer. Her name is Rodrigue, Jourdan Rodrigue. And it just illustrates that every knee will be bent to political correctness. You will bend the knee, and you will like it. You will bend the knee, and you will love it. Last night Carolina Panther’s quarterback Cam Newton’s Twitter page posted a video apologizing for his comments to Charlotte Observer infobabe Jourdan Rodrigue. Here is a portion of the video. We actually have two portions. Here’s the first.

NEWTON: What I did was extremely unacceptable. I’m a father to two beautiful daughters, and at their age I try to instill in them that they can do and be anything that they want to be. And the fact that during this whole process I’ve already lost sponsors and countless fans, I realize that the joke is really on me.

RUSH: And if that it wasn’t enough, he then apologized to women all around the world.

NEWTON: To the young people who see this, I hope that you learn something from this as well. Don’t be like me. Be better than me. And to the reporters, to the journalists, to the moms, super moms, to the daughters, the sisters, and the women all around the world, I sincerely apologize and hope that you can find the kindness in your heart to forgive me.

RUSH: Can I ask you a question? It’s an open-ended question. I’m not trying to be provocative. It’s not rhetorical. How many women, when they heard of this story, became righteously indignant, do you think? (interruption) You think it’s that small, zero point something percent?

To set the table again, there was a press conference earlier this week, Cam Newton weekly meets with the press, and a female reporter, Jourdan Rodrigue, asked him if he was encouraged and thrilled to see a particular receiver running his pass routes so aggressively and really sticking it to ’em out there. And Cam got a big smile on his face and laughed and said, “It’s funny, it’s funny listening to a female asking about routes.” Kablooey!

It was as though Cam Newton had written the Indiana Religious Freedom Act. The Drive-By sports media blew up, everywhere, no exceptions, ESPN, NBC, ABC, CBS, wherever you found sports Drive-Bys, they blew up. Cam Newton a reprobate, Cam Newton doesn’t have the first idea about gender equality. They kept talking about gender equality and how important gender equality is in America today. And Cam Newton was disrespecting it and laughing at it, and this was unacceptable.

Now, I’m just asking, how many women, about seeing the tape, before they had heard any of the Drive-By Media reaction to it — I’m really curious. I really would like to know. I’m not asking this with a foregone conclusion in my mind. I really would like to know how many women were as outraged and angry as the sports Drive-Bys were, because the sports Drive-Bys, as is always the case, were attempting — not attempting — they were assuming that their anger was universal, that their reaction to it was the reaction of the vast majority of people in America.

And I wonder, again, ’cause see, I don’t think that’s true. When the sports Drive-Bys or the news Drive-Bys, when they get exercised about something, they have this little trick of presenting it in such a way that, if you’re watching it, you think everybody’s angry. And if you’re not as angry as they are and as angry as they’re making you think you should be, then you start asking, “What’s the big deal here?”

COWHER: His response was appropriate. But, you know what? Your actions speak a lot louder than your words that validated that as a father. I hope that you’re sending that message right now to them. But, you know what? You need to validate that with your actions in the upcoming time and subsequent to that, and that will be the only validation you have for those words.

RUSH: Somebody want to translate that for me? I’m just gonna read it to you. Bill Cowher: The response was appropriate. But, you know what? You want my help on this? I can tell you exactly what he’s saying. “Cam, prove it. Your words don’t mean jack to us. You better go out there and –” by validate he means, “You gotta prove it, you gotta prove it and you had better, you had better tell your daughters that you screwed up, and you’d better tell ’em how you screwed up and you better treat ’em better than how you treated that reporter. I don’t trust you. I don’t believe you, Cam. I don’t believe a word you say until I see it.” That’s pretty much what he’s saying, right?

Oh, Snerdley thinks that Cowher was kissing up to the female crowd. Maybe so. Deion Sanders was watching this, and Deion Sanders heard this, so it’s Deion’s turn now to weigh in and this is what Deion said.

SANDERS: We all agree that Cam has maturation problems, and he’s working on those. But we shouldn’t be so judgmental as people that now we gotta go dissect his apology and try to figure out was it sincere. No, no, let’s take it for what it was. He apologized. Let’s move on.

RUSH: Now, we don’t have it, but Cowher came back and repeated what he said, and he seemed angry when he was saying it. So you think it was a kiss-up to the females in the audience? Okay. Now, we have one more. This is Cam Newton from 2012. Let me see. The Drive-Bys dug this one up. They went back five years to dig up another terrible sexist comment from Cam Newton. This is used to make people question his apology being sincere.

NEWTON: I’m gonna leave this room and I’m gonna bring in a suggestion box, and I want your suggestions to be in that suggestion box ’cause I sure don’t know, but the only thing I control, Sweetheart, is myself.

RUSH: Oh, he called a reporter sweetheart! Uh-oh. No. You know, I got suspended for that in Kansas City. Coanchor, I was the afternoon host and a coanchor was doing the news, and I introduced her one day as “dear.” And I got called in. They were looking for reasons to dock me, though, ’cause I was a great employee and they had no reason to — this was the place I got fired for using the word “therefore” too much.

Here’s my thinking. They kept harping on gender equality. You know, I have a problem with this whole concept of equality, because to me equality is impossible except under the law where it’s intended. Before the law, we’re all supposed to be equal. None of us are special, none of us are unique, none of us have connections or ins. This is the premise. Under the law, we are all equal. The law is the great equalizer, and that’s what it used to mean.

But now gender equality? We’re not equal! No two people are equal. And the left wants to force that on everybody, and there’s only one way you can make everybody equal and that’s by chipping people down. When they use the word “equality,” “gender equality,” they’re talking about sameness. And that’s not possible. No two people are equal in any way. Everybody’s different, everybody’s unique, starting with how they look.

But this effort to force sameness, to mandate equality on everybody and then to politicize that, when you don’t recognize it, when you don’t abide by this idea that we’re all the same, we’re all identical, it’s not possible for that to ever be true, unless you live in a totalitarian regime where that’s forced on you and there are penalties. It’s absurd. But it that’s where the left is.

RUSH: You know, you leftists, you liberals, I wonder, are you aware how fragile you are making women seem to be when you speak up for them and defend them? So here’s this reporter. She’s in a locker room. It’s a locker room. It’s a man’s locker room. It’s a man’s game. She’s in there with other reporters. And Cam Newton says something, and she’s so fragile we gotta react here and say poor girl, poor woman, you can’t treat her that way.

RUSH: And if that it wasn’t enough, he then apologized to women all around the world.

And you’re almost compelled to act as angry as you think they are because it seems like everybody else is. I know my wife, Kathryn, was not angry about it. She looks at these things, they’re one offs, they don’t mean anything, particularly about the status of things in the country, and she doesn’t attach politics to every one of these events. And I don’t either. But they do, which is the point.

Dawn, did you have an instinctive angry reaction to this? Did you say, “Oh, that’s gonna be trouble”? Okay. Dawn thinks that he was, in a modified way, flirting, that he had a smile on his face, and, you know, it’s sexy to hear you talking about routes, but he can’t say that in a room full of reporters in a business situation, so he said it’s funny to hear you talking about routes.

But the automatic, required, built-in reaction was livid anger. And I’m sorry, folks, my instincts tell me that that’s not the reaction that a majority of people, not just women, majority of people I don’t believe reacted to it the way the Drive-Bys to it, or anybody else that’s devoted to political correctness. And I’ll explain that in a minute. But I want to stay with the bites here.

Up next I mentioned at halftime of the game last night, which I didn’t watch, but by looking at the final score, it looks like the Patriots had trouble with the Buccaneers last night. Should have blown ’em out. And the way I looked at it, the Buccaneers were in it until the last play, had a chance to win it in the last — is that right? Did you watch it? Is that right? Did they have a chance to win it even in the last play? (interruption) Oh, yeah, well, the field goal kicking — your team is — there’s some karma thing going on with not being able to find a kicker.

So at halftime it was Deion Sanders and Bill Cowher, Bill Cowher, the former coach of the Steelers, Sanders, former great player, cornerback for many teams, Cowboys and 49ers. And here is Bill Cowher reacting to Cam Newton’s — this was more than an apology. This was a grovel. Cam Newton was just opening himself up and said just kill me, just do whatever you want with me. I’ll take it. Just hit me. But Bill Cowher was not buying it.

Look, I have five years’ experience in a locker room. Folks, it’s a totally different world. You can’t imagine — maybe some of you can — but you can’t imagine the things that go on in there. I’m talking about the things they say to each other, for crying out loud. Jokingly, some of it serious. It’s almost a rite of passage in a locker room that you have to put up with a certain amount of being made fun of. It’s a test to see whether you can take it.

It’s just always been that way. It’s not Romper Room in there. Particularly after a game and particularly if it’s a hard-fought loss. I’m not making any excuses. I’m wondering if you liberals, after 30 years of feminism and gender equality and all this, are you aware of how fragile you are making women seem? Not the women, but all of you getting outraged, all you liberal guys getting outraged over this and other incidents like this are really making it seem like there’s a bunch of cream puffs in there that you gotta really tiptoe around, and I don’t think that’s accurate.

I'm a woman who doesn't care about football. I thought it was funny that this guy would be so dopily condescending and I expected him to end up eating humble pie, but the reaction has been hysterical. Some sports show should have signed the woman reporter and this player to do a sit down interview. And Dannon should have hired the woman to be on commercial with him. t

I saw Cam apologizing and I though the did something unthinkable. When I read what he said, I thought it was a joke. I can’t believe how small and petty we have become.

He’s not sincere. Remember this guy was pouting and didnt congratulate the winning team and the QB when he lost the super bowl. Classless and i really think he’s lying.

Die NFL.

And Cam....you should have been a pimp, because you sure think and act like one.

What the NFL is doing is analogous to what Republicans did over the past few decades in response to the same sort of attacks from demonrats and other leftist filth.

Oh, no, we’re not racist, sexist, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

The proper response to such an accusation is not an apology; that will gain you nothing. The proper response is “FU, you drooling moron. ESAD.”

“Classless and I really think he’s lying.”

Of course he’s lying, but so what? Is he not entitled to his opinions?

Are we to demand absolute heartfelt belief like Mao’s Cultural Revolution? Have we reached the point at which lip service will no longer persuade the SJWs to take the knife from our throats? Must we now demonstrate our abnegation of our own opinions and our enthusiastic, wholehearted adoption of their positions?

We must not accept this.

I am not a fan of Newton, but does he not enjoy freedom of conscience under the United States Constitution and DOI?

I thought Rush said the NFL was dead to him?

Apparently not...

Perhaps it began to die 2 weeks ago, but it may take a few years posibly as many as 10?

Amazing, isn't it? An NFL player says something that somebody doesn't like and he apologizes. Apologize for what? She should apologize for not having a sense of humor.

Meanwhile, those black racist narcissistic NFL players have graduated from kneeling during the national anthem to the black power salute. When are they going to apologize?

I didn’t think he was belittling the reporter. I thought he was being condescending because the reporter was a woman, and I don’t think it was THAT big a deal. Didn’t occur to me race was an issue at all.
