"Were wealthy people," Eric Paddock said. "$100,000 isnt that much money.... He gambled that much through a machine in hours.... Hes got the highest level of membership card at a lot of these [casino] hotels. If a lot of these hotels say they dont know Steve, theyre lying."
(snip)
Paddock remembered his brother as a man who used his money to take care of his family financially. "He helped make me and my family wealthy. I mean, hes the reason I was able to retire three years ago when I got really burned out doing the job I did," Eric Paddock said.
(snip)
"He didnt have a lot of friends," Paddock continued. "He was a private person. Theres a story about that hes, ohhhh, he kept his shades closed, and he didnt talk to me for the first three times he saw me walking in the neighborhood. Wow. That makes him really weird, doesnt it? He was a private guy. Thats why you cant find out anything about him, thats why theres no pictures. Is he such a weirdo because he didnt have a Facebook page and posted 50,000 damn pictures of himself every day? Whos weird?"
(snip)
But, of his brother's attack, Paddock said: "This is 100% Steve, did this by himself. People cant seem to cope with that either. But Steve is a was a highly intelligent, highly successful person. He could have done anything he wanted to do. And he did. He made himself wealthy. He made us wealthy. He was a very successful person. He gambled for 20-plus years, successfully. Its like a job to him. He did it mathematically."

A smart man could see through all the media propaganda and know the truth. I did. I kept telling my wife and kids that Trump was going to win this because the poll numbers were just crap. The poll numbers in the Swing states were all going for Trump, and in a national election, these are the only states that matter.
It is simply irrelevant if Hillary is winning in New York or California. Those are gimmes. The only states that matter are states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and so on. Trump was winning those, and Mr Stephen Paddock Accountant was intelligent enough to figure that out too.
Am I the only one that suspects human trafficking /sex trade?
You could be right. Lets look at all the possibilities.
He had a Filipino girlfriend so he could be connected with arms, sex, drug, or Muslim underworld associated with the Philippines.
He came from Texas so the same could be said for gangs that came across the southern boarder with Mexico.
His father was bank robber, so he could have had a connection with the mod, he lives in Vegas, right?
ISIS claims him. I don’t think this is the connection. But the world trade bombers spent a weekend in Vegas before going on their last flight. Maybe they were getting laundered money.
He also worked for the IRS and the post office, I read somewhere. Maybe he was an agent who went hay-wire, or he was a double agent who knew he was about to be caught.
It could go a lot of ways. I just don’t believe the current story. Which suggests he was an accountant who flipped houses and was really, really good at winning machine poker in high stakes VIP rooms where there were no dealers to watch him. And he was very private so he stayed away from other people all the time. He’s never on line and he keeps his shades down all the time. I don’t buy it.
Don’t forget that while he’s sitting there for 8 hr stretches, he’s probably not just watching his machine. He’s noting the machines that are being played and if the heavily used ones have paid out or not.
So while he scrubs his money at a loss, he can tick his odds of winning up a little more than his own machine would allow if he sits down at a machine after someone else has given up on it after a long play and dry spell. If he does it at the right time, no one takes his machine while he does it, if he wins he can go back to it.
The machines don’t care who they pay out to, they just pay out what they are programmed to do, at irregular intervals, which have to be controlled somehow by some algorithm, unless they have squirrels inside randomly pulling strings.
The casino doesn’t care who they pay out to either, all they want is for other gamblers to see someone win enough to keep them salivating...so they probably have a way of making sure the wins are staggered throughout the day to maximize the number of witnesses and to keep up the excitement.
So while he loses over time, which keeps him in good graces with the casino, maybe he doesn’t lose as much as ordinary gamblers that are just hoping and don’t invest so much time and attention to it to care about algorithms or how long it’s been since a machine paid off.
Just a guess- only time I’ve ever gambled was penny gambling on Poker and Michigan Rummy at my folks’ and neighbor’s houses as a kid.
He was playing poker in the casinos, and was good at it.
My older brother made money playing poker. It was his hobby.
Impossible. In video poker, the deck is 'shuffled' for each new hand.
What he could have been doing is watching FREQUENCY. The machines take, and take, and take, but they do pay out. It happens in a pattern that would be indiscernible to most of us. If you could predict that frequency, you could wager more and then you might come out ahead. Maybe he had a knack for it.
Most of the time, if you pay in a bunch, you win back some. The longer you play, the better chance of winning something, but in the long run you spend more than you win.
If it was the other way around, there would be no casinos.
Now maybe I don’t know a large number of wealthy people - but I do know some.
I can’t think of one instance when one of them said outright “I’m wealthy” or “we’re wealthy people”.
Eric just strikes me as trying TOO hard to convince everyone.
My Bro only played as a hobby, but he made 1k-2k a month in poker clubs. I think he was playing in the Indian casinos in northern Mich.
Neither do I something more was going on !
Have you listened to country music in the last few years? Most of it doesn't sound a thing like country. When he started shooting it wasn't a regular ol' country type of tune that was playing...
He started shooting right when the band was about to do the hip hop "country" song "Dirt Road Anthem." Think rap but with country words, sung by a guy who is severely constipated and hiccups with a drawl. In my opinion, country rap drove them man insane.
where the money came from ?
he was some sort of spook. He worked for Govt
There's more to it than that. This was in response to a question about whether financial difficulties had anything to do with massacre. Read the whole article. It's not that long. For copyright reasons, I quoted the bits with the most direct quotes because I felt that was the meat of the article, but there's more informative material at the source.
How in heck do you mathematically win against slots?
Laundering money for crooked politicians maybe.
Not sure how true it is. But Psychopaths are supposed to be very selfish. They survive. This guy killed himself. Normally people who go out with a big bang like this, taking a lot of people then their selves, are making a statement. Like all you guys hated me so now your going to get it. Or the world is out to get me so I am going to get them first.
A psychopath can be thought of like a very smart wolf. He wants to live and if he needs to take out another wolf to make that happen he will. He is not interested in the greater good. He is not interested what others think. He just wants to live well and he will do that however he can. He will use people. He will fool people. He does not care what happens to people. He is an animal.
This guy cared for some reason. He went out with a splash. He hurt people and he did it in a very big way. Then he killed himself. There was something going through his mind. There was a plan. And there was a reason, at least in his head.
Blackjack, roulette, poker, slots, all around. Play conservatively, never lost more than $500 total on vacation, have usually won more than that. Usually I do very well at blackjack, playing conservatively. That means steadily increasing my bets during winning streaks and not pulling out too soon. If it's a losing streak get out immediately and find another table or dealer. My wife likes slots more than tables so I join her at that, and usually win. Same principle, if the machine is losing more pulls than winning get out immediately and find another machine. If you're getting a lot of play (meaning enough wins to keep playing without putting in more money) then stick with the machine and increase bets until you're at max bet. Since we like playing for fun and not for the money, we stick to the low denomination machines (penny, nickel, dime, quarter) although sometimes we play the dollar slots. We tend to get 2 or 3 hundred dollar jackpots on the nickel and dime slots. Last month we flew across the country with a connection at Las Vegas airport and made a couple hundred each way during the hour we spent there at the terminal playing slots.
Tables are where you can win big amounts. A few times I've started with $20 on roulette and walked away with $400 on wins. We play for fun and not the money. Seems that if you focus on winning money, you'll instead lose.
I have a sister and her husband who lives in Las Vegas. They're poor but living a good life. (Huh?) They jump around on part-time jobs in hotels and casinos, play poker that gives them most of their money to buy meals and pay rent. I don't rely on gambling to get by; they do and they're happy.
I haven’t seen the movie, but it makes sense his gambling was a front for another method of making money.
Not if he never talked politics. I didn’t know my father’s political party (although I suspected) until this election.
