Gunman's brother: 'If a lot of these hotels say they don’t know Steve, they’re lying'
LA Times ^ | 10/4/2017 | Laura J. Nelson and Matt Pearce

Posted on 10/05/2017 6:22:13 PM PDT by Zhang Fei

"We’re wealthy people," Eric Paddock said. "$100,000 isn’t that much money.... He gambled that much through a machine in hours.... He’s got the highest level of membership card at a lot of these [casino] hotels. If a lot of these hotels say they don’t know Steve, they’re lying."

(snip)

Paddock remembered his brother as a man who used his money to take care of his family financially. "He helped make me and my family wealthy. I mean, he’s the reason I was able to retire three years ago when I got really burned out doing the job I did," Eric Paddock said.

(snip)

"He didn’t have a lot of friends," Paddock continued. "He was a private person. There’s a story about that he’s, ‘ohhhh, he kept his shades closed, and he didn’t talk to me for the first three times he saw me walking in the neighborhood.’ Wow. That makes him really weird, doesn’t it? He was a private guy. That’s why you can’t find out anything about him, that’s why there’s no pictures. Is he such a weirdo because he didn’t have a Facebook page and posted 50,000 damn pictures of himself every day? Who’s weird?"

(snip)

But, of his brother's attack, Paddock said: "This is 100% Steve, did this by himself. People can’t seem to cope with that either. But Steve is a — was a — highly intelligent, highly successful person. He could have done anything he wanted to do. And he did. He made himself wealthy. He made us wealthy. He was a very successful person. He gambled for 20-plus years, successfully. It’s like a job to him. He did it mathematically."

If the casino suspects that they will ban you.
= = = = = = = = = = = =

In the ‘good old days’, upon being discovered with hands in cookie jar, a trip into the desert was in your future.

Since the state took over everything got screwed up.

Payouts probably less because the ‘mob’ understood the more you won, the more you played and the deeper they got into your pockets.

Any ‘mob type flic’ will show that the very WORST thing you can do is say hello to a ‘gangster’

And when he offers you an ‘ez pay loan’ turn it down, won’t be long and they will be owning YOUR business and you will run it until they cease to want to screw with you.

Sopranos played that ‘well’ as the gang all ran around like someone actually WORKED for that mink or new TV and Adriana running around like she really ‘earned’ that restaurant/night club...then had the nerve to THINK she really was the owner and had a say in anything.

I just saw the Tom Cruise movie "American Made" this last Saturday. I'm suspecting Private Pilot Stephen Paddock made his money the same way Tom Cruise did in that movie.

I'm beginning to suspect his gambling was just a front to launder money. I don't see the Casinos tolerating someone who is continuously winning money from them. "Losing" they will tolerate forever, but "Winning"? No. They will start looking at this guy with great scrutiny if he has been winning for 20 years.

[ People can’t seem to cope with that either. ]

Yeah, we bumpkins get all weird about 58 or 59 senseless deaths of innocent people and 500+ innocent people injured.

Pardon our trouble on processing it all.

Absolutely. Nobody can tell me he didn’t know old Steve’s political views.

At a minimum.

The brother appears to me to be one of those types that handles anxiety by talking. He’s worried about getting tied to this and he can’t shut up. My bet is that he has reason to be worried.

The $100 machines probably have better odds than 75%, but certainly less than 100%. If the evil one hadn’t been consistently losing money, the hotels wouldn’t have been consistently giving him great comps.

His sources are good, as is his track-record:

He has a number of points:

1. A male was in the room with Paddock. He left right before the shooting began.

2. The motive for the shooting was absolutely political. If the film is released, that political motive will be clear and “will absolutely change many things going forward”.

3. If the film of the shooting is not released, that non-release decision will be a fear on the part of the authorities that such release would trigger action by OTHER CELLS.

4. Paddock did plan to escape but that was cut short by the rapid response of the unarmed casino security guy.

5. Paddock mentions in the film being part of a NETWORK but does not specify if that network is AntiFa, or ISIS or any others.

6. A secret digital online profile of Paddock was uncovered about 24 hours ago.”

Another ping!!

I just saw the Tom Cruise movie "American Made" this last Saturday. I'm suspecting Private Pilot Stephen Paddock made his money the same way Tom Cruise did in that movie.

I suspect he did make money. The key would be to spread the wealth. Vegas has 104 casinos. If he won $500K a year, that's about $400 a month from each casino. Nobody's going to look at him twice for that kind of money. His specialty was video poker, where (according to the brother in one of the interviews) the payout was 99.37% plus hotel comps. The guy might have been Rain Man with numbers - he spent three years as an IBM auditor, and they don't hire dummies.

“He did it mathematically.”

Translation: He counted cards. Casinos would know; he’d be out in short time.

The brother reminds me of Dennis Hopper going on about Colonel Kurtz.

I almost wonder if Paddock hadn’t built up a little cult of personality around himself. He was Mr. Cool Mysterious Ultracompetence and they were his admirers. Then maybe he screwed up and got himself into debt or something, but rather than admit it and be brought down to earth in their eyes, he decided to go out in a blaze as some kind of nihilistic mastermind.
