The corrections paragraph to a Politico story that is so long that it calls the entire article into question. One wonders why Politico even allowed the October 1 story by Puerto Rican freelance journalist Alejandra Rosa to remain since such a large corrections section casts huge aspersions upon the veracity of the rest of her story still remaining. Will there be yet more corrections that will cause the already large corrections section to grow further and eat up the rest of the story?
Before we look at Rosa's heavily corrected story about financial pressures on Puerto Rico even before Hurricane Maria hit that island, let us ponder the bloated corrections section that draws most of the attention:

Maybe we should regulate commercial speech
It used to be that when we had a proper press, they vetted all their information and checked all their sources, because they were afraid to publish something that would threaten their credibility or worse, get them sued for libel/defamation.
These days, as long as you are a big hitter in terms of circulation (or online traffic), your credibility doesn’t seem to be much of a concern.
The original article sounds like it was written by a FALN terrorist..................
Saving for later
After seeing the nature of the corrections, now I think I should take the article’s implication that there’s a place called Puerto Rico with a grain of salt.
Looks like Ah-lay-HAHN-drah has a bright future as an AA journalist....the facts don’t matter; but the gender and ethnicity of the reporter do.....
“It began in 1898, when the United States invaded our island but didnt grant us representation in Congress, robbing us of a voice in times of catastrophe.”
That is all you have to read to see the tone for the hit piece.
That it is published by Politico casts aspersions on the veracity of a story. The safe assumption these days is that it is all fake news.
The key point: it is the “little people” who sometimes check the big guys.
Meanwhile... the damage is done.
A person at my office here just said, “I am surprised Trump got out of Puerto Rico without being assassinated, based on how much he has screwed things up there.”
(Shaking head and biting tongue.......)

I would have snarkly replied
If that is your barometer, better keep your back to the wall.
With these dumb ass "journalists" doing so much damage to them selves, it's no wonder the profession is ridiculed so much.
(Although to even be called a "profession" is wrong...since I know of none of them that are "professional" in the least.)
She was not talking to me, and on the other side of the cubicle wall. I try not to react to this kind of stuff at work, so as not to stir up issues.
I kind of look at it like those stupid COEXIST stickers. I never waste the time to go out of my way but when the opportunity presents itself I just ask;
How does one coexist with anyone who feels it is their divine duty to say one’s head off with a butter knife?
The leftist dishonest press puts out articles with lots of errors (always against conservatives) knowing that whatever is out there first is what most people will see.
If corrrections were required to be at the beginning of an article, perhaps the dishonest MSM would be more careful about their lies. Most people only read the headline and first paragraph and never see corrections at all. So-called journalists will repeat the lies enough times until the general public believes them to be true.
