LAS VEGAS Jesus Campos had no firearm when he found Stephen Paddock and approached his room on the 32rd floor of Mandalay Bay on Sunday night. Paddock, who had rigged cameras in the hallway and on the peephole of the door, saw Campos coming and fired through the door, hitting him in the leg, said Dave Hickey, president of the International Union, Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America. The union represents Campos and hundreds of security guards at Mandalay Bay. When Campos was hit, he radioed casino dispatch and told him his location and Paddocks.

"Paddock, who had rigged cameras in the hallway and on the peephole of the door, saw Campos coming and fired through the door, hitting him in the leg, "
This is clear evidence of he had it seriously planned out.
A) You are out of your mind to take on an unarmed security job.
B) The employer is criminally negligent.
The hotels might want to think about hiring some armed security.
I read that hotel staff cannot go into a room without security if there is a do not disturb sign on the door. If they thought something odd was going on with this shooter and gone into the room, they probably would have gotten blown away.
stopped by a namesake of Jesus Christ, The Almighty
what are the odds?
He wasn’t a security guard he was a security monitor. I learned that on TV.
In Las Vegas the odds are probably pretty good.
Tried to open the door while hearing automatic gunfire on the other side?
Brave but not the brightest dude...
Sometime ya just gotta take the initiative.
Scores are wounded and dying, he might have saved many more from that fate.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

“rigged cameras in the hallway and on the peephole of the door”
Someone posted a schematic of the suite and area around it. One of the doors to the suite was at the dead end of a long hallway. I assume that’s where he had the peephole cam. If so, he was able to see anyone coming for a very long distance.
And I think the other suite door, which was around the corner, was across from the stairwell.
Someone did some intricate planning.
Much appreciated.
He tried the door and got shot in the leg. Yep, there's a shooter in there he said.
Not to disparage his bravery, but he stood in the "fatal funnel".
Thankfully he lived to tell the tale--and to learn to do better.
Thank you Mr. Campos for distracting that lunatic. Sorry you got shot.
Shot in the leg? The shooter aims at leg level, instead of heart level?
Guy was very lucky.
The shooter knew the guard was out there and fired through the door. I don’t know if he aimed or not, but I doubt that he did aim.
Does it take “aiming” to shoot at a very close range where vital areas would be, rather legs? His goal was to kill and he obviously wasn’t stupid.
