Two Nevada gun shops confirmed Monday that they sold firearms to Mandalay Bay shooter Stephen Paddock in the last year and said he passed all required background checks.
It was unknown if the weapons Paddock bought from the gun shops, New Frontier Armory in North Las Vegas and from Guns and Guitars in Mesquite, were used in the casino massacre.
David Familglietti of New Frontier said Paddock purchased a rifle and a shotgun in the spring, and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were interviewing the employee who handled the sale.
"The rifle was not fully automatic and a shotgun isn't capable of shooting from where he was," Famiglietti told NBC News when asked whether it was possible the guns were used in the mass shooting.
"He's only shopped there once so it wasn't someone we knew personally," he said.
"We're very sad about the news of this tragedy. We're in the business of selling firearms legally and took all precautions on this sale as we do with all sales. My staff takes their job very seriously and if there were any 'red flags' the sale would have halted immediately."
He added: "All state and federal laws were followed and an FBI background check took place and was passed by the buyer."
Christopher Sullivan, general manager of Guns & Guitars, did not say what weapons Paddock, who lived in Mesquite, had bought.
"All necessary background checks and procedures were followed, as required by local, state, and federal law. He never gave any indication or reason to believe he was unstable or unfit at any time," Sullivan said in a statement.
"We are currently cooperating with the ongoing investigation by local and federal law enforcement in any way we can."

“They” are whining now that he’s not being called a terrorist, only a lone wolf therefore it’s racis’. You can’t win with these assclowns.
If he had been planning an attack for a long term, it could be that an aircraft attack was an option he was considering.
A fed who came down with an incurable disease..?
Someone who chose to Go Out in a way constructive to the goal of a truely global America with Sensible Gun Laws..?
So...
This proves once again that background checks dont work.
No agenda to advance with the attack = not a terrorist. What are they bitching about?
That guy had a FBI file which nobody from the Main Stream (so called) Media read. I guess research is not an integral part of 21st century journalism.
I’ve been thinking since last night during the unfolding mayhem, that this event would of course be a prelude to more calls for “Gun Control.” And that the reaction to that would only be to anger and wake up more and more patriots - despite what ever the entire Lying Media tells us.
The games the libs play and their playbook and tactics are completely open now for all to see clearly.
Thank you God, Donald Trump, who has done such a masterful job of pulling aside the curtains.
God bless and protect and guide America and all true patriots in these hours and coming days.
That’s the records on the NICS end.
For the 4437:
They go to the ATF if the store goes out of business.
If the store is sold but maintains the same FFL (for example if it’s a corporation) nothing at all happens to them.
If the store is sold but gets a new FFL, then the 4473’s (the records) of the old FFL are sent to the ATF.
They must be maintained by the store for at least 20 years. After 20 years the store can destroy them.
The “bound book” recording all firearms transactions eventually ends up in the hands of the ATF.
They have to keep the paper forms forever, or give them to ATF if they go out of business.
That is far too obvious for the left to consider.
“How soon families will be suing the hotel???”
And the gun shop and anybody else the shyster lawyers can figure out.
The elevator company that transported all that stuff up 23 floors to his room.
Any firearm purchased from a dealer will have that info stored for a minimum 20 years (most probably keep them longer). Dealers are required to keep a log of sales that has all 4473s in it. If they go out of business, that log is sent to the ATF for storage. So all these guns traced to the guy are probably the ones they found in his room, and by talking to the manufacturer, they find the store, who then has their logbook where the sale is recorded. Any LEO probably can trace any serial number to it’s original purchaser, and from there has to go talk to people and find where it went from there. Sell through a ffl, personal sale, still owns, etc.
No, no...I know all that.
How do the news organizations have that information?
How did they get it so quick?
Etc....
Leaks....
If he had been planning an attack for a long term, it could be that an aircraft attack was an option he was considering.

That’s kind of a stretch.
“I asked the same thing: if the coward was on the FBI list...WTF was the FBI doing all this time? Making sure Hoovers dresses were neatly folded”
Sessions troops are busy with basketball coaches
I don’t care what they say, unless this guy had a history of mental issues - which so far I haven’t heard about - this is another James Hodgkinson situation, a leftist hellbent on killing Republicans. Country music: majority of the people are white, lean right, and he’s been preparing this for weeks if not months, getting the right room reserved, arming up. What other reason is there? He’s a millionaire, he had no money problems.
Lawsuits incoming? Find out why they don’t dispose of that information? Wait, government dispose of information? Who am I kidding?
Well, if he had been a minority, the alt-right would be screaming it but since it was a white guy...... Yeah, idiocy on display.
Why? He got his years license years ago. Due to health reasons, he let it lapse. At one point, he owned two planes. He also had a hunting license for Alaska so that would fit.
CBS now saying he had 19 weapons.
Earlier today, the LV House of Rep. person stated house keeping had been in and out of the room during his stay and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. She also said he was on a winning streak so a loss at the tables couldn’t have been a reason.
