That all-electric future for cars sure will be something when there’s a blizzard that stops traffic and disrupts power for places like the NY Thruway.

GM builds cars in China for China, and China has said it wants electric cars.
“What’s good for China is good for GM!”

Did they comment on why their new "Envision" line is built in China, with Chinese manufacture of all but 2% of its components?

Notice that their advertising and commercials seem to omit that detail for American consumers, although it is on the Window Sticker.

this is a monstrous gamble....they’re betting the technology advances dramatically by the time they’re also ready to fully convert. I’d sell my stock.

Interesting. I could see where households might use an electric car for local driving and a gas-powered car for long-range driving, at least for the foreseeable future. That might make sense for some households.

But, the power grid can't handle electric cars on a large scale. Heck, in some places - CA comes to mind immediately - it's held together with spit and bailing wire as it is.

Never mind how to get an EV charged in a reasonable amount of time.

EV's aren't a total writeoff, but the technology isn't even close to being here yet. Maybe in a couple of generations.

“Reuss avoided naming the year when the auto giant will cease producing gas and diesel vehicles, noting that the company is too large to make such an estimate”

He is talking out his bunghole. Clearly he is a GM drone floating a marketing GM’s brain fart.

In order to get an all-electric future, we must get ONE thing: everyone, including Tesla, must agree on a common charging plug connector standard for both AC slow-speed and DC fast-speed charging.

The Chevrolet Bolt is actually a pretty nice electric vehicle, but the inability to use the Tesla Supercharger DC charging network is a big downside to this car.

I have a 2004 GMC Yukon that I really enjoy.

When the motor goes out I will put new one in. When the transmission goes out I will put a new one in. Etc, etc.

I plan on driving it as long as I can get parts for it.
