A gunman turned a Las Vegas concert into a killing field Sunday night, murdering at least 50 people and injuring more than 200 others.
The suspect was identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock and authorities said they were "confident" Paddock's roomate, Marilou Danley, had been located. Officials previously described Danley as a person of interest.

Authorities said one on-duty officer was in critical condition and another was wounded in the shooting. Two off-duty police officers attending the concert were killed.
The gunman, who fired down on the concert from a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, was killed by police.

“Security costs are likely to drive a lot of large-crowd events out of business”............
I question if the “security” folks would have caught this shooter prior to his act. Lots of “unknowns” about this tragic and horrible act. Prayers for all who lost their lives, their families and those wounded. TERRIBLE!
Not to get too personal, but it is my 55th birthday today. I have not slept for the past five days.
So I put on a Chicago radio station (WIND) and heard this news.
What is wrong with these people? Why? Why shoot innocent people at a concert? I do not understand this mind think.
Happy Birthday, Julie...one of the worst domestic shootings ever.
Okay, I am so tired I am about to pass out. I know, sleep is your friend. :) I need to make friends with sleep again. :)
How many shot, how many trampled?
I’m thinking he’s a suicidal, homicidal, psychopath who wanted to get as many kills as possible on his way to the grave. I’m wondering what the firearm was. that will give us a clue as to who this guy really is. It definitely sounded full auto and thay suggests someome with plenty of money and a clear criminal background or someone with backing.
If you honestly believe that, you clearly haven’t read a lot of history.
Fully automatic weapons are legal in NV.
L
They may be legal but they aren’t cheap. $13,000 might get you a weapon that would work for what this guy did. $18-20,000 is probably closer to it.
#13 tattooed on his neck ?
Sure they would have. More likely, the guy wouldn't have even tried it in the first place.
If this was a presidential visit, every hotel room with a sightline to the event would have been vacated and locked down. The security measures that are going to be expected for large events like this are going to be approaching that standard ... which is why I suggested these events are slowly going to disappear.
Not true full autos are not hard to come by. Legal ones are hard abd expensive but there are any number that are easy to manufacture or convert.
True, it’s just my suspicion that if he’s a leftie, she probably is too, and if she has a new guy he probably would be too. In any case this had to be planned long in advance, as the rooms were sold our for months.
That makes it a one day news story ...
but after listening to the gun fire, I think he had a trigger crank or a slidefire stock on a semi-auto weapon.
harry reid’s fault
I mentioned that earlier, there was a variation in the rate of fire. I won’t say 100% sure due to the echoes coming from neighboring buildings playing tricks with the audio.
Bumpski AK-47 Bumpfire Rifle Stock
A lot of the deaths and injuries may be due to stampeding. This has not even been discussed yet, though my wife told me that you can hear people in some of the videos yelling that they are worried they are going to get stampeded.
It’s hard to kill a lot of people from that distance with a gun, though you can INJURE a lot of people. If you fire 500 rounds you could, theoretically, injure 500 people.
im sure, esp with so many people in the area...
I just cant wrap my head around these kinds of sickos...
They just played audio of the bursts. Rate of fire sounded more like an M-60 or other GPMG than an assault rifle.
