Female Georgia police officer shot and killed in 'ambush', 2 suspects in custody

A female Georgia police officer was shot and killed Friday and a second officer was injured, prompting an intense manhunt that led to the arrest of two suspects.

Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd indentified the murdered officer as Det. Kristen Hearne, 29. The injured officer was identified as David Goodrich.

Investigators said Ofc. Goodrich was called out to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle Friday morning. He called Hearne for backup after a plate check revealed the vehicle, a Ford Escape, had been stolen out of Tennessee.

As the officers approached the car, a man and a woman walked out of some nearby woods. As the officers began speaking to them, the man opened fire with a handgun.

"It was more or less an ambush," Dodd told reporters. "[The suspect] drew the gun before they knew what happened."

Political correctness takes the mother of a 3 year old. She wasnt even smart enough to wear her bullet proof vest. Thanks to the feminists, she was a cop and thanks to the real world, she is a dead cop.

Georgia reintroduced the death penalty in 1973 after Furman v. Georgia ruled all states’ death penalty statutes unconstitutional. The first execution to take place afterwards occurred in 1983. As of November 20, 2015, 59 people in total have been executed since then.

IMO, if you shoot another human, you’ve just signed your death warrant whether you were successful or not.

You don’t use a gun unless it’s to kill. The utilization of one is an admission of intent.

If you shoot at a person (in a criminal manner), you have killed them in your mind.

Thus, they are guilty of murder.

Fry them!

I’m with you. Attempted murder and successful murder both rate the death penalty. I would include many other crimes on that list too. There are times when the world is a better place without a violent criminal.

All states should have the death penalty for anyone who intentionally kills a member of law enforcement.

They used to back before America became a Neo-Marxist rat hole.

We are all supposed to be equal under the law.

So how about the death penalty for anyone who intentionally commits any non-justifiable homicide?

Self defense is valid.

But you are right, no sane person wants to kill another human. (I don’t consider ISIS human)

On the other hand, I’m still troubled by the police becoming militarized. Civilian Bureaucrats should never have that power within the US. We do have an Army/Navy/USAF for defense.

So...you don't think women should be police officers?

Just my $0.02, but I believe the death penalty ought to be in play for any crime in which the victim would have been justified in resisting with lethal force. In such cases, it is the criminal that has placed the value of his own life below the fruits of the crime. That is not to say that capital punishment ought to be sought or applied in all such cases, but prosecutors ought to have it as an option. Again, jmho.

All states should have the death penalty for anyone who UNLAWFULLY MURDERS ANYONE.

Fixed it for you. Equal protection under the law and all. ALL LIVES MATTER, EQUALLY.

We need to stop the idiotic stratification of the value of fellow citizens. And, btw, government officials are just citizens, constrained by administrative policy and procedure, and authorized by law to execute certain duties.

God bless our Policemen!

I'm pretty sure that in all states with the death penalty that is an option.
