New York Giants linebacker Jonathan Casillas said Thursday that he was among 20 to 25 players and owners who met Tuesday with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in New York to discuss player protests of the national anthem last week that were heavily criticized by President Trump.
Now, there was nothing ironed out; there was just a whole bunch of opinions being thrown out, said Casillas, who attended the meeting with Giants co-owner John Mara.
I liked it because you got to see the opinions from the owners, and you got to see some of the opinions from the players as well. Stuff like that is very good, its very proactive. Thank Trump for saying what he said because without him saying that, number one, the whole league wouldnt have been so collectively together and number two, we would never have had that meeting.
Trump has said that the NFL has seen declining TV ratings -- and insisted that games should be boycotted -- because of players' conduct, particularly disrespect for the U.S. flag. Casillas later said that players might do something besides kneeling before the anthem to protest police brutality against minorities, because, as he said, The kneeling has kind of gotten blown out of proportion."

...GOOD.
Ha! Damage control.
Put out some statements BUT THEY WILL BE STANDING.
Everyone knows Trump wins this.
Genius political move for him to speak out on it. Genius.
I supposed just telling them to KNOCK IT OFF and play football was out of the questions...?
This is telling, that political correctness scares them so much.
And any of this locked arms “solidarity” crap is exactly the same to me. Its defiance, support of BLM, etc.
Exactly the same.
They’ll be all like “Well okay, if we have to” but inside they still will be like over paid children.
Do whatever you want.
After 50 years, I’m done.
Not coming back.
Bye
Wasted motion.
They’re toast.
So much hand wringing, meetings, discussions, plans about a simple societal civic custom that has been the norm for years.
What a bunch of pussies.
(Sorry, not sorry.)
End the PR nightmare by ending the protests.
Too late...you cooked your golden goose!
Agreed.
Er, does’t sound like it if you read only two sentences down.
They are thanking Trump for bringing them together.
WHY would you think they’d learn?
You’re a smarter guy than that :)
I want to see a human-sized t-shirt launcher on the sidelines. Disrespect the flag and/or anthem and they load you into it and launch you straight into outer space. (Not you, personally... you know what I mean...)
They’re already exposed themselves for who they truly are. I don’t care for how they want to spin it now. It would take a long time for me to want to come back.
BOYCOTT!!!

A shakedown is in order. Start with mandatory patriotism training for all players, owners, coaches and staff, a counterpoint to “diversity training” that’s so popular these days. Eight hours/week to start. And regular megabuck donations to veterans groups and liberty-minded PACs.
Not worried enough or they’d have done something.
He didn't leave them any room for that, though. LOL.
‘Hate America football league’.
Lousy business model.
