Spurs coach Gregg Popovich took aim at President Trump on Monday, calling the United States a "global embarrassment" under his leadership after his attacks on African-American athletes who have boycotted standing for the national anthem.
“Our country is an embarrassment in the world," Popovich said in a press conference in response to the president's remarks over the weekend.
The San Antonio basketball coach ridiculed Trump for stating that players who linked arms during the games were honoring the national anthem, compared to those who knelt. The players who linked arms appeared to be standing in solidarity with one another in a sign of protest against the president's attacks on certain NFL and NBA players.

I'll bet most athletes in the world might fear for their lives if they didn't stand respectfully while their national anthem is being played.
The stage act that a pre-game period before an NFL game has become is a global embarrassment, for sure.
I think they will.
I’ve never been a big fan of Trump, but there is one thing I TRULY LOVE about him. He is exposing both the left and a lot of folks in the GOP for the hacks and children they are.
And it is the gift that keeps on giving. Most of the country is shocked at just how much of this stupidity he’s drawn to the surface. It is a wonderful thing to behold.

I’ve wondered how much his pen and phone have been used to stir up this particular pot of s#it. It’s got all the Obama trademarks - anti-Americanism, attack on traditional Americans and values, and a big fat race card.

The media is turning everything into an attack against Trump. Meanwhile, we can see the direct protests of The Anthem beginning to stop just as he wanted.
He is an influence and opinion leader. We are engaged in a values war for the future of America and enemies like this coach must be confronted to show that his opposition is not a free shot and others thinking about following his lead will pay a price, too.
Mr. Popovich is apparently NOT “embarrassed” by all the taxpayer money his team has been the beneficiary of from the city of San Antonio and the US taxpayer. Item: San Antonio residents ponied up an estimated $ 18 million for the Spurs facility; when told they could have the existing Alamodome, like a greedy bride, they said it was “too big”. Item: the US taxpayers gave $ 44 million in subsidies to the Spurs. For some reason, I thought San Antonio had a lot of poverty, with many poor Hispanic kids deprived of a good education due to lack of public funds. Why don’t you refuse public money, Mr. Popovich - Donald Trump doesn’t take a salary and has donated millions to hurricane victims, Vietnam veterans and other worthy causes. YOU, Sir, are the “embarrassment”.
