The Steelers will be on the sideline during the national anthem in future games, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and defensive end Cam Heyward said during a news conference Monday.
Roethlisberger, via a statement posted on his website, said he has regrets over the Steelers’ decision to wait in the tunnel during the national anthem at Sunday’s game in Chicago, but that the team’s intent was not to protest the song, the flag or the military.
Roethlisberger said that he personally believes that protests have no place during the national anthem, but that the idea was to show unity as a team in the wake of president Donald Trump saying NFL teams should fire players who kneel for the anthem.

When someone expresses genuine remorse, it's appropriate to be gracious forgive them. That is the example that Christ set and preached, and we need to see more of it from all sides on this issue.
These Left wing players and Media idiots felt there oats for about one day, and the realization of what they've done—how majorly they f-cked up—is already beginning to sink in.
The NFL will continue to see declines in viewership and revenues until it issues a mea culpa, reverses itself, and begins to enforce its own guidelines for employee and player conduct.
If they don't, then NFL players can look forward to significantly smaller salaries—if they have salaries at all—and the league and teams can anticipate severely reduced revenues, because the People simply won't stand for this un-American bullsh-t. There aren't enough Left wing American football fans in the country to keep this arrogant group of clowns propped up.
Hopefully, a few courageous owners and players will get this debacle under control and start mending the damage that a few selfish players have done. The viability of the league hangs by a thread, at this point, and if they don't do something quickly, the damage will be permanent.
As has often occurred during the last few years, the arrogant Left has once again severely overplayed their hand with their identity politics and race-baiting, and the backlash is building up to a tsunami of revulsion. The deplorables aren't going to be silent or forgotten any longer. Those days are gone, thanks to President Trump.
The more I see from this President, the more the #NeverTrump crowd looks like a bunch of pathetic, petty fools. They might as well either give it up, o join the Left, because all they're doing is aiding and abetting the Enemy...
If it were truly diverse it would reflect the ethnic composition of America. IOWs blacks would be about 13% of the league.
