A political group with close ties to President Donald Trump is amplifying his attack on professional athletes who kneel during the national anthem as a form of protest.
Turn off the NFL, reads a digital ad produced by the nonprofit America First Policies, which planned to begin spreading the message on social media Sunday afternoon.
The ad includes a photo with Trump, hand over his heart, and a #TakeAStandNotAKnee hashtag. It follows Trumps recent remarks, first delivered during a Friday night speech in Alabama, aimed at football players who have protested police brutality and other causes.
While campaigning for Luther Strange, who is locked in a tough Republican primary to keep the Alabama Senate seat he was appointed to earlier this year, Trump asked those in the audience if they would "love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'get that son of a bitch off the field right now.'" He added that such players should be fired.
Trump continued the attack over the weekend on Twitter.
If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL, or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem, Trump posted in a series of tweets. "If not, YOU'RE FIRED. Find something else to do!
NFL team owners and players reacted strongly and disapprovingly to Trumps push.

If universities didn’t offer scholarships the Democrats would complain that pro football was too white.
the owners really piss me off..especially Robert Kraft. If i were Trump, id announce that as Commander in Chief of the service members and the flag they represent, no NFL team will no longer be welcome to the White House as long as i’m President.” The owners have chosen sides and they must ...full on boycott of all things nfl. They think they are too big to fail...we shall see.
“they must PAY”...
It will be interesting to see the attendance/viewership numbers for the day games today, the Sunday night game and the Monday night game.
NFL won’t have an Atlantic hurricane to blame if the numbers show a drastic decline.
Let them be free. We can decide what to do with ourselves.
Bang — dead on target.
As a tax payer, I would love to see the entire sport disappear.
Bless you always.....Thank you!!!!....
Thank you for your service.
I could not agree more.
Buzz Feed = Fake Feed
It’s a Globalists propaganda web site. A modern day Tokyo Rose in other words.
Why not punish the kneelers’ sponsors or sponsored products.
Boycott of all NFL sponsors punishes the good guys too.
People need to start burning their nfl jerseys and all logo merchandise. Stop buying nfl merchandise.
It might be higher today with people tuning in for the trainwreck or drama the real story will be told over time like always.
I turned them off. If they start respecting the flag again maybe I'll come back. Maybe.
Another article reminds us that the flag represents the country, not the President. Presidents come and go, but the flag endures.
HOORAY Presdient Donald J. Trump. I haven’t watched an NFL game since the infamous “wardrobe malfunction”. My Sundays have been GRRRRRRRREAT.
Well said. Hard earned money spent to spoil these entitled babies. I hate for the good guys but really Goodell and all those owners need a good butt kickin. They are seeking media approval and wanting to keep SJW happy.
Well said! I totally agree. And *thank you* for your service to our great country!
Just posted to my FB page and anywhere else I can think of....How can I tweet this?? I have certain ‘people’ I’ would enjoy sending this to?....like all the sponsors of the NFL, some select members of the media, etc.....I am twitter challenged...58 year old male with techincal issues...:)
